Bolaji Abdulllahi Has NOT Defected From APC

Bolaji Abdulllahi is still a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), he confirmed tonight shortly after news of his defection to PDP circulated on social media.

Reports that Mr Abdullahi, a former minister of youth and sports development defected to PDP went round tonight after his mentor, Senate President Bukola Saraki quit APC.

Mr Abdullahi’s absence during the regular Monday meeting of the APC National Working Committee (NWC) fueled the speculations that he may have concluded arrangements to leave the party.

Defending his absence at the NWC meeting, the APC spokesman told journalists at the party secretariat that he actually notified the party’s national leadership of his absence from the meeting.

“It is not true that I have resigned and let me emphasis that there is no iota of truth in that report. I can understand where the speculation is coming from, perhaps because I was absent during the NWC meeting on Monday.

“However, the speculators didn’t know that I told my colleagues that I was away in Kwara State.

“I want to put it on record that I came through the front door and if I want to leave, I will leave through the front door,” he said.

PDP however added to the speculation, when the official twitter handle of the party, tweeted that Bolaji Abdulllahi had defected to the party.

EFCC Grills Deputy Senate President, Ekweremadu

Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu, today reported to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission to answer questions of the multiple assets in Nigeria and abroad ascribed to him.

The DSP, who arrived the anti-graft agency’s office early in the day, was immediately taken in to meet with his interrogators, who confronted him on the many choice properties in Nigeria, United States of America and United Arab Emirates, which they claimed were acquired with proceeds of crime while the politician is in public office.

In particular, the detectives confronted Ekweremadu on how he acquired the assets, when and how they were paid for and by who and whether he declared them before the Code of Conduct Bureau as stipulated for all public officers of his standing, Vanguard reports.

The Head of Media and Publicity of the EFCC, Mr. Wilson Uwujaren, confirmed to Vanguard that Ekweremadu was being interrogated by its operatives as the time of filing the story around 6pm.

“Wilson said, “It is true that the Deputy Senate President honoured our invitation today and our people are currently talking with him but I will not say anything more than that for now.

It was not clear as at the time of filing the story if the operatives would admit Ekweremadu on administrative bail since he is not covered by immunity to avoid being detained.

Lagos Bans Hijab In Public Schools For Now

The Lagos State Government today said it would not allow the use of Hijab in all its public schools until the Supreme Court “determines an appeal seeking to upturn the decision of a Court of Appeal.”

The state government equally clarified that religious institutions were exempted from paying taxes according to the state laws, though any religious institution engaging in commercial activities was liable to pay taxes accordingly.

The Commissioner for Home Affairs, Dr. Abdulateef Abdulhakeem, speaking on a television programme, said the state government would not enforce the appellate court’s decision on the use of Hijab.

A Court of Appeal sitting in Lagos had on July 2016 unanimously set aside the judgment of a Lagos High Court which banned students in public schools in the state from putting on the Hijab with their school uniforms.

Court Stops Swearing-In Of New Imo Deputy Governor

There was drama at the Imo State Government House, Owerri, on Tuesday as a state High Court sitting in the state capital stopped the swearing-in ceremony of the  deputy governor-designate, Callistus Ekenze.

After waiting for four hours for the swearing-in of the deputy governor -designate following the impeachment of the former deputy governor, Eze Madumere, on Monday by the state House of Assembly, guests, government functionaries, including Governor Rochas Okorocha, were visibly disappointed as

the court ordered the state Chief Judge not to proceed with the swearing-in ceremony.

While  guests, especially the deputy governor-designate and his family members were waiting for the CJ to commence the administering of the oath of office, the Commissioner for Justice and Attorney General  of the state, Militus Nlemadium, broke  what became a bad news to the audience in the Sam Mbakwe hall.

Nlemadium told the audience that there was a court order made by Owerri High Court on Tuesday morning stopping the CJ from swearing-in the deputy governor-designate.

A government source told Punch correspondent that the CJ told the governor that he would not swear in the deputy governor-designate as long as there was a court order restraining him from doing so.

According to the source who pleaded not to be mentioned, the CJ told the governor that it would be wrong for him to be seen to be disobeying a court order, considering his position as the chief judge of the state.

The source said that the chief judge mandated the governor to vacate the order if he must swear in Ekenze as the new deputy governor.

The attorney general told the guests not to despair, assuring them that the government had filed all legal process to set aside the court order.

He expressed optimism that the order would be vacated on Tuesday and that the deputy governor would be sworn in same day (today) .

Punch correspondent gathered that the interim order stopping the swearing-in ceremony was sequel to a suit instituted by the impeached deputy governor on Tuesday morning, challenging his impeachment by the state legislature.

Ahead of the 2019 general elections, the Ambassador to South Africa, Ahmed Ibeto, has resigned.

He has also renounced his membership of the ruling All Progressives Congress, and had crossed over to the opposition Peoples Democratic Party.

Ibeto was reported to have arrived Nigeria from Pretoria on Sunday and on Monday morning, he handed over his letter of resignation at the Ministry of External Affairs.

Ibeto was a deputy governor of Niger State on the platform of PDP.

Checks revealed on Tuesday that Ibeto have left Minna for his home town of Ibeto in Magama Local Government Area of the state.

According to sources, the former deputy governor was received by over 1,000 supporters on his way to Ibeto.

Punch correspondent gathered that while in Ibeto, the ex-ambassador would first resign his membership of the APC and assume PDP membership.

A source close to the former deputy governor told Punch correspondent that he would join governorship race immediately he registered with PDP.

It could be recalled that former Ambassador was a member of the PDP until the primary election of the party in November 2014, during which he lost the governorship ticket to Umar Nasko, a former Chief of Staff to ex-governor Babangida Aliyu.

He resigned his membership of the PDP along with thousands of his supporters after complaining about “the injustice” melted to him by the then ruling party.

Also, last year, he was was appointed an ambassador and posted to South Africa by President Muhammed Buhari.

‘Your Man Didn’t Tell Me He Was Married,’ Girlfriend Tells Angry Wife

Three-year-old marriage between a businesswoman, Mrs. Nelly Ibegbu, and her estranged husband, Donatus, was on Tuesday dissolved by an Igando Customary Court in Lagos over infidelity.

Nelly, 32, had accused 44-year-old Donald of infidelity.

“Donatus receives a lot of calls from women. Most times, after receiving the calls, he will abandon whatever he is doing and rush out without telling me where he is going.

“There was a day his phone rang and he was in the bathroom; I picked the call and a lady on the other end called him “honey,” thinking he was the one who picked the call.

“I asked her what she wanted with my husband, and she told me that Donatus never told her he was married.

“Whenever we walked on the road, he would look at a woman and forget himself until I called his attention,’’ she had told the court.

Nelly also said that Donatus, a clearing and forwarding agent, denied her access to a property they jointly owned.

“After our marriage in 2015, my husband told me that his brother wanted to sell his Mazda car for N400,000, and he persuaded me to buy the car.

“I gave Donatus N380,000 and his brother accepted the money; but when he eventually came home with the car and I asked for the receipt, it was his name that was written on it.

“I queried it, but he told me that as husband and wife, we were one.

“Again, I gave him money to buy a bus so that he could use it for commercial purposes when his business was not going well; his name also appeared on the receipt,’’ she said.

The petitioner said that Donatus was in the habit of collecting money from her in the guise of giving it to the Police or traffic officers to retrieve the bus from them.

“I later discovered that he used to hide the bus to extort money from me.

“He is now claiming that the two vehicles belonged to him just because his names were on the receipts, whereas his money was not in both vehicles,’’ the petitioner said.

The businesswoman said that Donatus was irresponsible and regularly assaulted her.

“My husband lacked care for me; he did not give me money for food; but whenever I used my money to cook, he would eat the larger portion.

“I am a graduate and he is a school certificate holder; I. bought all the property in the house because he refused to buy them after our wedding. I also paid the house rent,’’ she said.

“Donatus beat me at the slightest provocation and assaulted my sister with a machete when she visited,’’ she said.

Nelly prayed the court to end the marriage, saying, “I am no longer interested.”

Donatus, however, said that he assaulted Nelly’s sister because she was misleading his wife.

“I assaulted my sister-in-law with a stone, not a cutlass, as she wanted to destroy my home by always advising my wife wrongly,’’ he said.

The clearing and forwarding agent said that Nelly always threatened to kill him through poisoning.

He admitted beating Nelly for slapping him and tearing his clothes whenever they had an argument.

“I once beat her and she had a miscarriage,’’ he said.

According to him, he bought the above-mentioned vehicles before he married Nelly.

The respondent consented to the dissolution of marriage.

“I have also lost interest in the marriage,’’ he said.

The Court President, Mr. Akin Akinniyi, held that the estranged couple consented to the dissolution of their marriage and the court had no choice than to dissolve it.

“The court hereby pronounces the marriage between Mrs. Nelly Ibegbu and Mr. Donatus Ibegbu dissolved. Both of you henceforth cease to be husband and wife.

“Each of you should go his or her separate ways unmolested.

“The court wishes both of you well in your future endeavours,” Akinniyi ruled.

Mum With TWO Wombs Gives Birth To Twin Babies

A mother had no idea she had two wombs until she discovered she was pregnant with twins - with one in EACH.

Jennifer Ashwood gave birth to her one-in-500million twins Poppy and Piran House by c-section just months after discovering she had a rare 'heart shaped' uterus.

The 31-year-old said her body has "surprised" her as there was no indication she had two wombs when she gave birth to her first child Millie, now eight.

Doctors told her it was so rare to carry a baby in each one, they didn't quite know what was going to happen until they opened her up.

Remarkably, she became pregnant with twins when one egg was released into each uterus - and they were both successfully fertilised at the same time.

Doctors told Jennifer and partner Andrew House the chances of having twins in this way was one-in-500 million.

The family are now all home in Camborne, Cornwall, and getting to grips with their two new members.

Jennifer, a care coordinator, said: "To have the two uterus' is rare in itself, but to have an egg in both, then those to be fertilised, and then for both eggs to be in the right part, it's a bit of a miracle.

"It is ridiculously rare. The odds were stacked against us but it all worked out. You think that you know your body well, but it turns out you might not.

"I'm 31. I've had a baby before and it was really straight forward. But my body has surprised me this time.

It's two separate uterine cavities joined by one cervix. Everything else is the same, with two fallopian tubes, one each side, each with an ovary.

"It's caused by a mid-line abnormality from when I was in the womb.

"What happened was at the time of ovulation an egg was released from each tube, one into each uterus, and both were fertilised, and both remained in each uterus.

"It's crazy when you think about it. It's possible that the fertilisation could have occurred one or even two days apart, but it was from the same time.

"We found out at the 20 week scan and ever since people have been saying how rare it was."

In most cases women with the condition will only carry one baby in one uterus.

Jennifer went into early labour at 28 weeks, but her contractions were stopped with medicine, and she had a c-section on May 6.

Piran was born first at 5lb 10oz, with Poppy born minutes later weighing 5lb 3oz.

Doctors even took a photo of Jennifer's uterus' during surgery at her request, so she could see what it looked like.

It clearly shows the two uterus' with one measuring much smaller than the other.

"They had their own uterus, their own amniotic sacks, and their own placentas," she said.

"They said it was realistically like having two single pregnancies at the same time.

50 Cent Hit With $3M Defamation Lawsuit

Looks like 50 Cent has gotten himself into even more legal trouble! One week after being read to filth by boxing champion Floyd Mayweather has it been revealed that the “Power” actor is being slapped with a $3 million defamation lawsuit.

The rapper/actor’s social media posts have gotten him into even more hot water and now a popular hip-hop website is suing 50 Cent over defamation claims. According to court documents obtained by The Blast, HipHopDX.com is accusing 50 of tarnishing their reputation by branding them as “fake news”.

“The celebrity known as 50 Cent has maliciously used his power and influence to falsely attack a small, independent media company for its unfavorable but entirely truthful content,” the lawsuit claims. “In late June 2018, it exposed as false certain public statements made by 50 Cent claiming to have sold the rights to a three-word catchphrase for a million dollars.”

The website claims that they were just doing their job and reported truthful news but ended up getting put on blast by 50 Cent after he shared the article to his millions of social media followers and labeled their outlet “as a bogus news outlet that does not check its facts.”

The website eluded to 50 using the “fake news” as a “powerful weapon” to discredit them as a media company.

“False attacks by celebrities and public figures on journalists and media companies, branding them as ‘fake news,’ have become a powerful weapon for pulling readers away from otherwise respected sources.

These are not merely political or public relations issues for media companies. Rather, they are attacks on a business and constitute classic defamation – false assertions to the public that are intended to, and do, damage a person or company in their professional reputation.” the lawsuit says.

The website’ lawsuit comes after 50 sued HipHopDX over a photo they used that he claims belongs to him. He says he never gave the site permission to use the photo and sued for copyright infringement.

However, HipHopDX claims 50 didn’t own the photograph when they posted it, but he instead,

“allegedly obtained the rights to for the sole purpose of bringing this lawsuit.”

The Blast reports that HipHopDX denies all allegations in 50 Cent’s lawsuit against them.

Photos: Three INEC Staff Charged With Receiving N179m Diezani Bribe Appear In Court

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC on Monday arraigned three officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, at the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos and charged them with receiving N179.8 million stolen money as bribe from former oil minister, Diezani Alison-Madueke.

The men, Yemi Akinwunmi, Atiba Dickson and Ogunmodede Oladayo, docked before Justice Muslim Hassan, of the Federal High Court in Ikoyi are being tried on an eight-count charge bordering on conspiracy, diversion of public funds and money laundering.

The defendants- -were alleged to have collected the slush funds in the build-up to the 2015 presidential election.

Investigation revealed that the money was disbursed to some chieftains and members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, as well as some retired staff of INEC in Ogun State to compromise the 2015 general elections.

The defendants pleaded not guilty to the charge preferred against them.

In view of their pleas, the prosecution counsel, Nnaemeka Omewa, asked the court for a trial date and also prayed that the defendants be remanded in prison custody.

However, counsel to the defendant, Ayo Ogungbesan, moved an oral application for bail on behalf of his clients. In refusing the bail application, the judge held that the defence counsel must make a formal application for bail on behalf of his clients. Consequently, Justice Hassan adjourned the matter to August 6, 2018 for hearing of the bail application and ordered the defendants to be remanded prison custody.
