Couple Furious After Hospital Cleaner Takes Baby’s Placenta And Eats It

A couple in China were devastated to find that a hospital had failed to keep the new mother's placenta and that it had been stolen by a cleaner.

The parents had asked the cleaner to return it to them but were shocked to find that the cleaner had already cooked and eaten it. The husband, Lu Yanggang said they wanted to bury the placenta in their home town in line with their village's culture. The pair reside in Anhui City.

Lu's wife went into labour and gave birth to a baby boy at Wuxing Subdistrict Community Health Service Centre in Changzhou on the afternoon of March 24.  They were told to come back for the placenta later as it would have to be sent for inspection.

The family were furious and shouted at members of staff at the hospital.
Dr Li Wenwu, deputy head of the service centre explained new parents can only take away the placentas unless it is cleared of any pathological diseases.

'Mrs Lu gave birth on Friday afternoon and normally we will keep the placenta when waiting for blood test results. But her results came early on Saturday and we have checked that she did not request to take away, so we treated the placenta as medical waste and bin it,' Dr Li stated.

He also added during the process, a cleaner took the placenta away from the bin.

The cleaner had already been reported to Wuxing Street police station and both parties agreed to settle.

Dr Li admitted this incident had revealed a faulty system in the safe keeping of placentas. He said there was a lack of education with hospital staff on medical values.

Human placentas, also called as 'Ziheche' in Chinese medicine, claim to have high nutritious value. It is thought to stop post-natal depression.

It is also claimed to cure premature ejaculation for men.

While some people believe that the high content of hormones and protein can improve a person's skin.

However Chinese doctors advise people not to buy or consume any placentas that have not gone through professional checks and sanitation.

Surety Turns Accused For Allegedly Aiding Escape Of Suspects

A 42-year-old man, Taiwo Idowu, who allegedly aided the escape of two men he stood surety for, was on Friday in Lagos granted a N1 million bail.

An Igbosere Magistrates’ Court, which gave the ruling, asked Idowu to provide two sureties as part of the bail condition.

The accused, whose address was not given, is facing a two-count charge bordering on perversion of course of justice.

Earlier, the Prosecutor, Insp. Ingobo Emby, told the court that the accused committed the offences on March 29, at Police Zone 2 Command Headquarters, Onikan, Lagos.

He said the accused stood surety for two of his friends, Sikiru Balogun and Taiwo Taiwo, in a case of alleged malicious damage Emby said Idowu promised to produce the suspects on March 29, and other subsequent dates they would be needed at the station but failed to do so.

He also said that Idowu made an undertaken to forfeit N800,000 bail bond which he made while standing as a surety for the two suspects if he failed to produce them.

“He failed to produce the two suspects at the police station, thereby aiding their escape,’’ he said. E

mby said Idowu should show cause, why he should not forfeit the said N800,000 bail bond to the Lagos State Government.

He said that the offences contravened Sections 97 (i) and 132 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges.

The Magistrate, Mr W. B. Balogun, granted the accused N1million bail with two sureties in like sum.

He adjourned the case until May 3 for mention.

Fuel Scarcity Looms As Shell Shuts Down Nembe Pipeline

Nigeria stands to experience a shortfall in its oil exports earning as Shell Plc said it had shut down the Nembe Creek Trunk Line, which exports Bonny Light crude oil.

The company said it shut the trunk line to remove theft points. The managing director of Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) said the company was working to “remove a significant number of oil theft connections and repair any leaks on the pipeline.”

The line, operated by Aiteo, is one of two along with the Trans Niger Pipeline that carries Bonny Light crude oil to the export terminal.

Exports of roughly 232,000 barrels per day (bpd) were planned in April, according to loading programmes, but it was not immediately clear how much of this would be impacted by the pipeline shutdown.

“SPDC will work with the security forces during shutdown to clear illegal connections on NCTL,” SPDC said.

Shell declined to comment on the impact of the pipeline outage on its operations, but oil traders said the loading programmes were so far not affected. There have been widespread loading delays on Nigeria’s Qua Iboe crude oil, with yet another revised export plan issued on Friday.

South Africa's Zuma Sacks Finance Minister

South Africa's President Jacob Zuma sacked finance minister Pravin Gordhan in a cabinet reshuffle after days of speculation that has rocked the country's markets and currency, replacing him with home affairs head Malusi Gigaba.

A statement from the president's office just after midnight on Thursday said Zuma had also appointed Sfiso Buthelezi as Deputy Finance Minister replacing Mcebisi Jonas. A steep decline in the rand underlined Gordhan's reputation among investors as a guardian of policymaking stability in South Africa.

Gigaba has been Home Affairs Minister, while Buthelezi did not hold a position in the cabinet and was a backbencher in parliament. Zuma also made several other changes in his cabinet, affecting ministries such as energy, police, tourism and others. He brought in new faces and moved some ministers to new portfolios.

Fire Guts Ebonyi Govt. House

The accounts section of the Ebonyi Government House was on Friday gutted by fire which disrupted activities within the complex. No life was reported lost in the fire which started around 9 a.m.

Dr Kenneth Ugbala, Senior Special Assistant to Gov. David Umahi on Internal Security, told newsmen that it took the combined efforts of workers and the State Fire Service to put out the fire.

“The fire outbreak was caused by a faulty electrical connection within the accounts section and the level of damage was minimal.

“An upholstery and cottons within the section were completely burnt and we would ascertain the true extent of damage when the fire service concludes its task,’’ he said.

An eye-witness, who spoke under the condition of anonymity, told newsmen that the fire started with a thick fume emanating from the accounts section.

“The shouts for help attracted workers who used improvised items such as water and detergent to put out the fire before the arrival of firemen,” she said.

Mr James Owoh, the state Chief Fire Officer, said that his officers promptly responded to the distress call from the Government House.

“We have always been responsive to distress calls and Government House officials acknowledged that the situation was promptly put under control,” Owoh said.

Omg! Liz Black Has Some Flavours For Haters

Oh dear, whatever happened to her string of businesses, so she isn’t busy? Or mama just found fun on IG? her latest posts have been killing, LMAO. She posted the last one saying ‘Last one 😋😝... You know I have to complete a roll...’ lmao, dead dead… Two more below… plus she also served us her pretty face in different photos.

Freeze Again! Says Pastor Who Arrested Kemi Olunloyo Isn’t Jesus-Like

OAP Daddy Freeze has taken to IG again for the second time to write about the continuous detention of Kemi Olunloyo in less than 24 hours saying, what is happening to her shouldn’t be from a Pastor. He however used Bible verses to support his arguments. Read how Freeze preached the gospel on his page below…

Are pastors supposed to save or enslave?

Now this woman is getting more famous by the day, what you thought would break her, would only serve to bake her and then make her. ~FRZ

Here are the words of Apostle Paul taken from 1st Corinthians chapter 4, reading from verse 11; my comments are those in brackets!. CONTINUE...

1st Cor 4:11; Even now we go hungry and thirsty, and we don’t have enough clothes to keep warm. We are often beaten and have no home. (Pastors in Nigeria are the opposite of this, they are never beaten, never hungry and have HUGE HOMES) -

12: We work wearily with our own hands to earn our living. (They don't work o! They just feed of your tithes mostly) We bless those who curse us.😳😳😳(Deris God o! Bless who? They imprison those who dare curse them) We are patient with those who abuse us. (🙄)
-
13: We appeal gently when evil things are said about us.(🙄🙄the appeal against KEMI was everything but gentle🙄)
-
Yet we are treated like the world’s garbage, like everybody’s trash—right up to the present moment. (This would soon happen trust me! Many pastors in Nigeria have become 'pisstakes' and the world would continue to piss on them, till the truth about Jesus is told and the #FreeTheSheeple movement is here to liberate imprisoned minds, as the birth of true Christianity is only moments away!) ~FRZ
-
Here are the last 7 statements Jesus Christ made as he lay dying on the cross. Which of the statements included "arrest them" or "sue them"?
-
1. Luke 23:34: Father, forgive them, for they do not know what they do.
-
2. Luke 23:43: Truly, I say to you, today you will be with me in paradise.
-
3. John 19:26–27: Woman, behold your son. Son, behold your mother.
-
4. Matthew 27:46 & Mark 15:34 My God, My God, why have you forsaken me?
-
5. John 19:28: I thirst.
-
6. John 19:30: It is finished. (From the Greek "Tetelestai" which is also translated "It is accomplished", or "It is complete".)
-
7. Luke 23:46: Father, into your hands I commend my spirit.
-
While Jesus died for our sins, many Nigerian pastors are dying for your money!

71-Year Old Male Nurse Given An MBE By Prince Charles Found Guilty Of S3xually Abusing Children

He was given an MBE in the 2012 Queen's Birthday Honours for his services to the community in Aberdour, Fife, where he worked as a station master.

Now Francis has been warned he faces a jail term when he returns to Dundee Sheriff Court to be sentenced next month.

Three girls - aged 14 to 16 at the time- told a jury that Francis would creep into the girls' dormitory at the home in the night and sexually assault them.

One told how he touched her on the chest under her bedsheets while another said he had touched her genitals under her covers.

A male resident at the home told how he had once run away and got as far as Kirkcaldy where he was picked up by police and taken back.

Francis took him into a laundry room and attacked him as punishment.

Other victims told how Francis slapped them in the face and beat them with a slipper in violent rages.

Francis, 71, of Manse Street, Aberdour, Fife, denied a total of nine charges on indictment.

However, a jury of eight men and seven women took two and a half hours to find him guilty by majority of two offences of using lewd, indecent and libidinous practices and behaviour towards young girls and three assaults.

Arrest Of Kemi Olunloyo: Nothing But A Sham & Shame- Bisi Alimi

Bisi Alimi is very upset at the moment. He took to his instagram page to lash out at Nigeria and her people saying, those who have done this to Ms Olunloyo have no iota of dignity, calling it sham and shame. His full words below…

The shame of a nation: @hnnafrica has fortunately or unfortunately become the shame of this shameless country call Nigeria. This image will forever linger in our memory and it will make Ms Olunloyo more popular than anticipated.
The plan was to crush her but it is not going to work. But to a more pressing issue. The arrest of Ms Olunloyo in a democratic, supposedly religious country for commuting absolutely no crime is nothing but a sham and a shame. A sham to the dignity of the democracy of the country call Nigeria and a shame to his people.

This is the same country that idiotic Dino is being laughed out and not locked up. I don't care what you think of Ms Olunloyo, but if you are religious and think she deserves this, then something is wrong with you. If you believe in social justice and you think she deserves, then you are a sham, if you have humanity and think it's her fault then you are nothing but a disgrace. No matter what her offences are, she doesn't deserve this uniform nor the prison.

Mexico City Metro's P3nis Seat Sparks Debate

When a new style of seat suddenly appeared on Mexico City's metro system, it was labelled as inappropriate, uncomfortable, humiliating and embarrassing.

It was supposed to be.The seat, moulded to include a protruding penis and chest, was designed to highlight sexual harassment experienced by female passengers.

The explanation next to the men-only label read: "It is uncomfortable to sit here, but that is nothing compared to the sexual violence that women suffer on their daily journeys."

The seat is not a permanent fixture, but part of a campaign called #NoEsDeHombres, which aimed to highlight sexual harassment on public transport. But the response has been mixed.

Malaysians Stranded In North Korea Return Home

Nine Malaysians who were prevented from leaving North Korea have arrived home, after the two countries struck a deal to end a diplomatic row. The quarrel, over last month's killing of Kim Jong-nam in Kuala Lumpur, had resulted in both countries banning each other's citizens from leaving.

Two North Koreans wanted for questioning are believed to have been allowed to leave Malaysia.

Malaysia has also released Mr Kim's body to Pyongyang. North Korea is widely suspected to have orchestrated Mr Kim's murder. Mr Kim was the half-brother of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un. The late Kim Jong-il's eldest son was passed over for the leadership and was living outside North Korea at the time of his death.

Those who have returned include the country's counsellor to North Korea, Mohd Nor Azrin Md Zain, embassy staff and their families.

The counsellor said that when Pyongyang told them they could not leave North Korea, "we were very concerned especially since we had committed no wrong".

But he added they were "not particularly harassed" by North Korean authorities. "We were given the assurance that life could go on as normal," he said.

They were flown home in a business jet plane piloted by members of the Malaysian air force.

Top Maldivian Model Who Was Once Praised By The President For Her Striking Looks Commits Suicide

A model and medical student who appeared on the cover of Vogue and even received praised from the president of her native Maldives for her striking appearance has reportedly committed suicide at a dormitory hostel in Bangladesh.

Raudha Athif, 21, a second-year student at Islami Bank Medical College in Rajshahi city, was found dead in her room. Her body was recovered by police at around midday after her classmates found her dead.

The body was sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital for an autopsy. Mahmuda Begum, the superintendent of the female hostel, said the model 'always looked happy,' and added, 'it is hard to believe she would commit suicide'.

Ms Begum said: 'I was in my chamber. Suddenly, I heard screams of my students.

'Rushing to the second floor of this six-storey building, I saw some of the students trying to break the door of Athif's room

The door was locked from the inside and students broke into the room.

'We primarily suspect it is a suicide case. However, we can't come to any conclusion until we get the autopsy report,' said the officer-in-charge Zillur Rahman.

The picture made her an internet sensation in 2014.

Her fame grew and she eventually landed on the cover of Vogue India in October last year.

Brad Pitt Emerge In LA, Looks Shockingly Thin

Brad Pitt emerged looking shockingly thin and gaunt in Los Angeles. In recent months the 53-year-old has been locking himself away in a Los Angeles art studio while nursing a broken heart following his split from Angelina Jolie.

As the father-of-six arrived at his creative bolthole this week, the actor often described as the 'sexiest man alive' looked a shadow of his former self. It seems his divorce from Angelina, 41, and the ugly legal war that followed has taken a toll on him. Poor Brad!

Top UK Surgeon Rapes Mother Of Patient He Treated, Telling Her You Owe Me For Making Your Daughter Well

One of Britain's top heart surgeons raped a woman in his office after telling her 'you owe me' for helping her sick child, a court heard.

The alleged victim told how 53-year-old Mohamed Amrani was still in his scrubs as he forced his tongue in her mouth and kissed her neck and ears.

She told jurors how the consultant surgeon then stripped her naked and said 'I'm going to f*** you,' then sexually assaulted her.

The alleged victim, who cannot be identified for legal reasons, is one of four women he is said to have attacked during a campaign of 'sexual bullying' at the hospital between 2001 and 2014.

When she begged him 'please don't do that', Amrani turned her around and said he was going to have sex with her from behind, the Old Bailey heard.

He then sat her down on the sofa in his office at Harefield Hospital in Hillingdon, west London and forced her to perform a sex act, jurors were told.

She said she felt she was left 'very, very shaken' after the attack and felt she could not report the incident because of Amrani's position at the hospital, where his wife Clare worked part-time.

Amrani was finally reported to police in 2015 - by which time he had allegedly patted the bottom of a fifth victim at the Cromwell private hospital in Kensington, west London, in June 2014.

Prosecutors claim he carried out the assaults over 13 years and believed his position as one of Britain’s leading surgeons meant his victims would never dare to complain.

He denies all the attacks and any sexual contact with the women, and claims they have invented the accusations against him.

Today, Amrani's third alleged victim described him as 'an absolutely brilliant surgeon' who had helped when her child fell ill.
'He started saying: "You owe me for the help I gave you. Remember, you owe me",' she told jurors.

'He said it in a jovial, jolly way and I just never thought anything.'

The woman described how she was walking to Amrani's office on September 4 2013.

'Then he said to me, "you owe me, you owe me, you owe me", delivered in a very jovial way. I didn't think anything of it,' she explained.

She sat on a sofa in Amrani's office, while he took a seat at his computer.

'He came off the computer and came over to me while I was on the sofa. He leaned over and started kissing me,' the woman said.

He then stood up and flicked the lock on the office door, the court heard.

'Then he came back over and started kissing me again. I didn't move at all. I was completely still, completely frozen,' the alleged victim continued.

'He was trying to push his tongue inside my mouth. He then started kissing my neck and ears. It was a horrible sensation.

'Then he pulled me up off the sofa so I was in a standing position.'

She said: 'I remember that he smelled of coffee,' adding: 'Every time I go into a room that smells of coffee it brings it all back.'

The woman said she did not fight Amrani off as he undressed her before sexually assaulted her.

Describing the ordeal, she added: 'He then turned me back around and pushed me down on the sofa when he was stood right in front of me.'

Jurors were told how Amrani forced her to perform oral sex on him before his phone rang.

He answered 'hello', tied up his operating theatre 'scrubs' and left the room, the court heard.

The alleged victim added: 'I just thought to myself at that time, "there's no way I can report this".

On Tuesday, another victim told the court that she was attacked in 2002, when Amrani allegedly ‘reached out’ to grab her breasts. She said she had not made a formal complaint because ‘the surgeons are all powerful’, and she feared she would not be taken seriously.

It is also alleged that Amrani had grabbed another woman’s breasts in a hospital corridor in 2014.

She also did not make a formal complaint, the court heard, but he later said to her 'you do realise I will f**** you sooner or later', and she subsequently told the police.

The fifth victim also alleged she had been patted on the bottom by Amrani at the Cromwell private hospital on 7 June 2014. She tried to slap him across the face but he ducked, jurors heard.

Amrani, from Harrow, northwest London, denies one count of rape, one count of assault by penetration, six counts of indecent assault and three counts of sexual assault.

The trial continues.

British Woman Visits Ivory Coast Only To Get Infected With Flesh-Eating Maggots

A British woman returned from the Ivory Coast to find flesh-eating maggots living and wriggling in her arm.

The 46-year-old, who is not named, returned to the UK and promptly visited A&E where doctors dismissed the sore as an infected - but fairly harmless - insect bite and she was sent away with antibiotics.

However, when she returned to A&E the next day in more pain, it became apparent she did not have an ordinary skin infection.

Squeezing the sore revealed the woman was infested with the larvae of the tumbu fly, a species found in the tropics of Africa, which gorge on human flesh.

Dr John Park, who treated her, said the bugs had to be removed surgically.

The woman was given a local anaesthetic during the procedure.

In some cases, doctors will cover the sores with paraffin wax for the procedure, because this has been shown to help drive the larvae up to the surface of the skin.

After treatment, the woman was given antibiotics and she fully recovered. Doctors have however said they are dangerous bugs.

Snake Who Wanted To Eat Up Porcupine, Gets Attacked Instead (Photos)

Wince-inducing footage appears to show a snake writhing in pain after being pierced with a porcupine's spike after attempting to eat it. A video captures the boa constrictor squirming as dozens of white quills protrude from its skin in Brazil.

The impaled reptile had apparently attempted to eat the porcupine but came off worse when the animal defended itself with its quills.

The snake slithers and thrashes for almost two minutes, while a man records its pain.

Things got even worse for the reptile when the filmmaker's dog bounded over and started barking at it.

The wounded snake was forced to coil around to defend itself against the canine, it was however not reported if the snake got help or not. Eyah, when your head is stronger than theirs. May this happen to our enemies o. Every enemy that wants to eat us, Amen.

EFCC Arrests Herbalist For Fraud Running Into MILLIONS

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, Ibadan zonal office, Oyo State, on Thursday said a herbalist had been arrested by its operatives for falsely obtaining N45m from a victim under the pretext of offering herbal and spiritual healing.

A statement from the EFCC Head of Public Affairs in the zone, Ayo Oyewole, said the suspect, Aminat Okiribiti, 34, committed the crime with two other accomplices at large, one of who is said to be her husband.

The statement said, “Aminat (Okiribiti) was arrested for an alleged case of conspiracy and obtaining money under false pretences.  In a rehash of the old infamous advance fee fraud tactic of spiritual help and solution to all problems, a victim recounted her ordeal in the hands of a syndicate to our operatives, signalling a warning to the public.

“Aminat, alongside other three cohorts still at large, conspired, using the decoy of providing cure and spiritual solution to the health challenges of the victim’s children and fleeced her of the sum of N45m.

“Aminat, who is married to one Wande Okiribiti, 47, who is still at large, confessed that some of the money obtained from the victim was collected through her (Aminat’s) bank account domiciled in one of the new generation banks located in Ibadan.”

The statement said Aminat and the victim met sometime in October 2014, at Utako, Abuja, adding that the suspect would be charged to court at the end of investigation.

Punch Metro learnt that operatives of the Inspector-General of Police, led by ACP Abba Kyari, trailed the syndicate to a hotel in Kaduna State on Tuesday, after receiving complaints from some victims.

A police source disclosed to one of Punch's correspondents that the suspects impersonated Moguno to collect N13m from a Ghanaian, who wanted to get an oil block in Nigeria, and posed as Lawal to swindle one Nnamdi Udo of N4m under false pretences of helping him to get a federal appointment.

“They also posed as the Chief of Staff to the President and collected N2.5m from one Mr. Bishop, who was looking for a contract, and another N700,000 from one Shehu Dan Yahaya, who was seeking a federal appointment.

“Ogogo, a native of Omoku Rivers State, impersonated prominent citizens from the South-South and South-East; Eragbe impersonated prominent persons from the North; Oshamoto posed as prominent citizens from the South-West and North-Central; while Idah supplied them SIM cards registered with the names of the top government officials.

“They were arrested in a luxury hotel in Kaduna and had confessed to impersonating several prominent citizens,” the source added.

Another senior police officer disclosed to Punch Metro that the suspects confessed to have realised N20m in six months from their criminal activities.

He added that the mastermind of the gang was based in the United Kingdom.

He said, “Ogogo is their leader; but they mentioned one Prince Maurice, based in the UK, as their gang leader.  Fourteen different phones, several registered SIM cards, and a diary containing phone numbers of several top government officials, were recovered from the suspects.

“Ogogo further confessed that they had made over N20m from their criminal activities within the last six months.”

Parading the suspects on Thursday in Abuja, the police spokesman, Jimoh Moshood, said all the suspects confessed to the crime.

He said, “On March 23, 2017, the Intelligence Response Team arrested these notorious criminals who posed as top government functionaries.

“The four-man syndicate, led by one ‘High Chief’ Ovie Ogogo, was arrested in a hotel in Kaduna State. All the suspects confessed to the crime and admitted to have impersonated several prominent citizens and made over N20m within the last six months.”

The police said other suspects would soon be arrested, while those in custody would be arraigned in court at the conclusion of investigation.

Another Also Gets 1 Year In Prison For Corruption

Former Montreal Mayor Michael Applebaum has been sentenced to one year in prison on corruption-related charges to be followed by two years on probation.

The 54-year-old Applebaum was found guilty of pocketing about $37,000 Canadian (US$27,000) in kickbacks from developers and engineering firms through his former aide. The charges stemmed from two separate deals between 2007 and 2010, when Applebaum was mayor of the Montreal's largest borough.

The prosecution had sought a two-year prison sentence followed by two years of probation for his conviction in January on eight charges.

Applebaum was interim mayor of Canada's second-largest city between November 2012 and June 2013 after a lengthy political career at the municipal level. He had vowed to clean up the corruption scandals rocking the city before he was arrested in 2013.

S. Korean Ex-President Jailed Over Corruption Allegations

South Korea's former President Park Geun-hye has been arrested and jailed over high-profile corruption allegations that already ended her tumultuous four-year rule and prompted an election to find her successor.

A convoy of vehicles, including a black sedan carrying Park, entered a detention facility near Seoul after the Seoul Central District Court granted prosecutors' request to arrest her.

Many Park supporters waved national flags and shouted "president" as Park's car entered the facility.
Prosecutors can detain her for up to 20 days before formally charging her, meaning she will likely be in jail while her case is heard. A district court normally issues a ruling within six months of an indictment.

The Seoul court's decision is yet another humiliating fall for Park, South Korea's first female president who was elected in 2012 amid overwhelming support from conservatives, who recall her dictator father as a hero who lifted the country from poverty in the 1960-70s despite a record of severe human rights abuses.

Prosecutors accuse Park of colluding with a confidante to extort big businesses, take a bribe from one of the companies and commit other wrongdoing. The allegations led millions of South Koreans to protest in the streets every weekend for months before lawmakers impeached her in December and the Constitutional Court ruled in March to formally remove her from office.

It made Park the country's first democratically elected leader to be forced from office since democracy got there in the late 1980s.

South Korea will hold an election in May to choose Park's successor.

Prosecutors can charge Park without arresting her. But they said they wanted to arrest her because the allegations against her are "grave" and because other suspects involved the scandal, including her confidante Choi Soon-sil and Samsung heir Lee Jae-yong, have already been arrested.

America’s Serial Killer Dies After Attack In Prison

A former nurse's aide dubbed the "Angel of Death" after he admitted killing three dozen hospital patients in Ohio and Kentucky died Thursday, two days after he was attacked and beaten in his prison cell.

Donald Harvey, who was serving multiple life sentences, was found injured in his cell Tuesday afternoon at the state prison in Toledo, officials said. A patrol report said -the 64-year-old was beaten when an unnamed person entered his cell.

Harvey pleaded guilty in 1987 to killing 37 people, mostly while he worked as a nurse's aide at hospitals in Cincinnati and London, Kentucky. He later claimed he was responsible for killing 18 others while working at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cincinnati.

A relative of one of Harvey's victims expressed some regret but also suggested his death might be comeuppance.

"I'm kind of sad to hear it. But he was involved in about 50 people's deaths, and I guess maybe the good Lord gave him what he deserved," said Larry Bellamy, of Louisville, Kentucky, whose father-in-law is believed to be Harvey's second victim.

Hamilton County Prosecutor Joe Deters, who was an assistant on the case decades ago, said Harvey caused a great deal of pain.

"It may sound harsh, but the reality is that I do not have any compassion for Donald Harvey," Deters said.

Harvey told his former attorney the killings began in 1970 when was at Marymount Hospital in Kentucky.

Many of his victims were chronically ill patients and he claimed he was trying to end their suffering.

Harvey used arsenic and cyanide to poison most of his victims, often putting it in the hospital food he served them, prosecutors said. Some of the patients were suffocated when he let their oxygen tanks run out.

Twenty-one of the people Harvey killed were patients at the former Drake Memorial Hospital in Cincinnati, where he worked as a nurse's assistant.

He was caught after a medical examiner smelled cyanide while performing an autopsy on a victim.

Harvey told a newspaper after he pleaded guilty to avoid the death penalty that he liked the control of determining who lived and died.

Former Hamilton County Prosecutor Arthur Ney Jr., who prosecuted the cases in Cincinnati, said Harvey was not a mercy killer.

"He killed because he liked to kill," Ney said.

Will Nigerians Ever Have The Benefit Of Enjoying 24 Hours Light?

Seriously? This is not just for laughs, it’s something we should pray God help us fix since our leaders couldn’t since 1960. Even the white men ruling before Independence would have fixed it. Shey if we had known, we would have asked them to carry on, and we would have just had London in Nigeria today. The only difference would have been the weather, and it’s better here because it’s warm.  Fix it Jesus.

Another Reason To Be Prayerful...
