A Nigerian final year student was stopped from defending his project live on zoom due to his unkempt appearance.
The video was shared on social media and has generated lot of reactions from people all over the nation
In the video, one of the lecturers, Olayinka Ohunakin said the student’s appearance is enough to cancel the project. He accused the student of indecent dressing and unkempt appearance.
“Look at me, look at Dr Leramo, eveybody is well dressed, look at the way you look”, the lecturer said.
The student was not allowed to defend his project due to his appearance, he was therefore advised to get a clean shave before the next meeting.
However, this has raised the question of how dressing and intellectual activities correlate.
While some people feel that the student’s dressing does not affect the quality of his presentation, others insist that he must dress well during defence.
The student identified as @only1bkk on twitter revealed he later shaved and was allowed to defend his project, he also posted a picture of himself after shaving.
