Professor Who Called Tuface An Illiterate Apologises

Prof. Akindele Adetoye who called Tuface an illiterate for daring to plan a protest against the Government has apologised. The apology came after he released a statement where he called the respected singer an illiterate and Nigerians instantly went for him. He took to his Facebook page to make the apology. The professor wrote;

“Good day brethren, I put up an update yesterday that incurred the wrath of some of my friends and the population at large for what some considered its harshness to another member of the Nigerian community.

“In hindsight, I believe I was indeed harsh. I believe I am wrong to have come at him in the manner in which I did. He’s in love with our nation like I am and like the rest of us.

“It was in finding a lasting remedy to our national malaise that I believe my passion took the best of me, and it was in that regard that I erred.

“I apologize for that and I apologize to those whom my update affected in any manner. I was wrong and I am sorry.

“Thank you and God bless you all.”

Beyonce Announces She Is Pregnant With TWINS

Beyoncé has announced on Instagram that she is pregnant with twins with husband Jay Z.

"We would like to share our love and happiness," the Carters wrote. "We have been blessed two times over. We are incredibly grateful that our family will be growing by two, and we thank you for your well wishes."

A photo of a pregnant Beyoncé, shrouded in a green veil and kneeling in front of flowers, accompanied the announcement.


Beyoncé did not reveal the expected due date for the twins. It's also unclear if the pregnancy will impact whether or not she attends the Grammys on February 12th, where she's nominated for nine awards.

The singer is also scheduled to headline two weekends at Coachella in April.

Ambode Okays Death Penalty For Kidnappers, Signs Bill Into Law

Lagos State Governor, Mr Akinwunmi Ambode on Wednesday signed into law the anti-kidnapping bill recently passed by the State House of Assembly, with a pledge to ensure its full implementation to eradicate kidnapping once and for all in the State.

The Prohibition of the Act of Kidnapping Law imposes a penalty of life imprisonment on kidnapping for ransom. The law also stipulates that where a victim dies in the course of kidnap, the suspect is liable on conviction to death.

Speaking at the signing ceremony held at Lagos House in Ikeja, Governor Ambode said the spate of kidnapping in the State had gotten to a level that required decisive action from government, hence the need for the enactment of the law to send serious message to perpetrators of such heinous crime.


He said aside the enactment of the law, the State Government was also putting in place appropriate measures particularly in the schools and other vulnerable targets to prevent kidnapping and other security breaches.

The Governor said: “Security is of utmost importance to our administration and we are confident that this law will serve as a deterrent to anybody who may desire to engage in this wicked act within the boundaries of Lagos.

“Why we use this law to address the challenge and punish the criminals, we are also putting in place appropriate measures particularly in our schools and other vulnerable targets to prevent security breaches and it is important that we ensure that everything we do in respect of this anti-kidnapping law is in good faith and good spirit to eradicate the issue of kidnapping once and for all in the State.” Governor Ambode assured that the justice system would be activated to execute the anti-kidnapping law to the letter to ensure that any criminal caught is subjected to the full wrath of the law.

Mum Who Spent 16 Days With Dead Baby Daughter Taking Her Body For Walks In Pram Shares Heartbreaking Photos

A mum who spent more than two weeks with her dead baby girl has shared heartbreaking photos from the experience as she took her daughter's body home and even for walks in a pram.

Brave Charlotte Szakacs, 21, and her husband Attila, 28, were given the devastating news their baby girl Evlyn had a debilitating chromosome abnormality after a 20-week scan in September 2016.

When Evlyn was born on December 13 at Leeds General Infirmary weighing 5lbs 5oz, she had an underdeveloped brain which was completely smooth, narrow airways in her nose and lungs and a narrow aorta.

And despite battling against the odds for four weeks, the tot passed away in her parents' arms on January 10.


Paint technician Charlotte and engineer Attila stayed at the hospice for 12 days while Evlyn was kept in a refrigerated 'cuddle cot' and were allowed to take her out for family walks before the first-time parents took Evlyn home for four days before her funeral on January 26.

Charlotte, from York, said: "So many people have never heard of parents being able to spend that time with their babies and other mums reached out to me saying they think it would have helped so I really want to raise awareness.

"I know it might not be the best option for everyone but for us it was so important to be able to have that family time - and just properly cuddle our little girl.

"I think having the time with her made such a difference. Being able to do so many of the things you imagine like taking her out in her pram, it really helped emotionally.

"I was really nervous about bringing her home because I didn't know if it would feel right but it was so nice to have her there. And it wasn't just for us but for Evlyn so she got to come home.

"After she was born the doctors told us we should think about moving her to a hospice but I wasn't ready and I didn't want to believe what they were saying.

"But over the next week she got worse and worse and we knew we could either watch our little girl die in a hospital, on a ventilator, surrounded by doctors and beeping machines or let her go peacefully in a lovely hospice.

"It was the hardest decision you could ever make as parents but I knew keeping her at the hospital would just be selfish.

"Evlyn was moved to the hospice on January 10 and I have never seen her so calm. We got to hold her and cuddle her properly for the first time for an hour before they turned off the ventilator.

A spokeswoman for Martin House hospice, where Evlyn stayed, said: "At Martin House we support families in a place of their choosing, either at home, within the hospice or in hospital setting.

"Our emphasis is always on the family's wishes. We work hard to balance their hopes, expectations and the need they feel to be parents with the specialist palliative care offered by our team.

"Whatever life-limiting condition a baby may have, the involvement of children's hospices like Martin House allows families to make informed choices about their care and make the most of the precious, and often limited, time they have with their baby.

Patience Jonathan Withdraws Suit Against SERAP

The Federal High Court in Lagos has struck out the suit filed by Dame Patience Jonathan and her group Union of Niger Delta Youth Organization for Equity, Justice and Good Governance against a civil society group Socio-Economic Rights and Accountability Project, SERAP.

Mrs. Jonathan’s lawyers at the hearing of the case on Tuesday informed the court that they were no longer interested in pursuing the matter, and subsequently applied to discontinue/withdraw it.

Timothy Adewale, who represented SERAP in court, said: “This case should never have been brought against SERAP in the first place. The case has been a complete waste of our time. While we do not object to the request by the Plaintiffs’ lawyers for withdrawal of the case, we ask the Honourable Court for N500,000 as cost against Mrs Jonathan and her group.”

The court presided over by Justice C.M.A Olatoregun subsequently struck out the case and awarded N25,000 as cost to SERAP.

It would be recalled that Mrs. Jonathan and her group, Union of Niger Delta Youth Organisation for Equity, Justice and Good Governance, had accused SERAP in suit number FHC/L/CS/1349/2016 dated October 6, 2016 of “using online, print and electronic media to publish to the public unfounded and malicious allegations that she stole $15m (US) and ought to be prosecuted.”

SERAP responded by filing a preliminary objection dated October 27, 2016, asking the Federal High Court to “dismiss her suit with substantial cost.”

Iran President Still Upset About Travel Ban, Calls Trump A Learner On Live TV

Iran's President Hassan Rouhani dismissed his U.S. counterpart Donald Trump as a political novice on Wednesday, stepping up criticism of the Republican's immigration policies including a temporary travel ban on Iranians.

Tehran has already said it will take legal, political and reciprocal measures in response to Trump's order suspending the entry of people from Iran and six other Muslim-majority countries.

Rouhani turned the focus on Trump himself in a live address on state television, saying: "He (Trump) is new to politics. He has been in a different world. It's a totally new environment to him."

"It will take him a long time and will cost the United States a lot, until he learns what is happening in the world," added Rouhani, who led a rapprochement with Washington under Trump's predecessor Barack Obama.

Trump's has said his travel order, signed on Friday, is needed to protect national security.
