May Day: PDP Felicitates With Nigerian Workers

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has lauded Nigerian workers on the occasion of 2019 Workers Day, for their service towards the development of the nation.

The party also acknowledged the patriotism and resilience of the workers, particularly for remaining steadfast to the course of nation-building, regardless of the prevailing economic condition of the times.

In a statement issued by its spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan on Tuesday, the PDP said it was “unfortunate that Nigerian workers found themselves operating under an inept administration that does not appreciate their inputs; that has no tangible strategy for their much-needed capacity building and reward system, but only relishes in Greek gifts and official bullying.

“The PDP cautions against such unproductive tendencies, adding that the N30,000 minimum wage should not be a justification for any form of bullying or victimization against the workers.”

'Are Some Nigerians More Equal Than Others?' CAN Queries Buhari After Securing Zainab Aliyu's Freedom

The Christian Association of Nigeria, Northern State chapter, has congratulated the parents of Zainab Aliyu for their daughter’s release from Saudi Arabia detention.

However, it expressed concerns over the continued detention of Leah Sharibu.

Leah was among the 110 school girls kidnapped by Boko Haram in Dapchi, Yobe State in Febuary 2018. After a government negotiated release, Leah remians the only girl in capitvity from the incident on account of her christian faith.

On Tuesday, Rev. Joseph Hayab, Public Relations Officer of the Christian Associaton Of Nigeria, conveyed the church's position on her continued detention, saying: "CAN Northern states rejoices with the parents of Zainab Aliyu and the government of our country for securing her release after she was arrested and detained in Saudi Arabia for allegations of drug trafficking.


"It is sad that many innocent Nigerians are suffering for a crime they know nothing about. This prompt effort by government is commendable and should be sustained for all and in the future, because this is what we want to see from our leaders in this country.

“But as we rejoice about this development, we are also compelled to ask this important question: Are all Nigerians equal or some are more equal than others?

“We are aware that many innocent citizens of our country have been arrested, some killed and others are still in detention; but we have not heard any directives from Mr. President to his Attorney General to take action about them with this kind of urgency.

“If we want our citizens to be proud of their government and country, then we need to show equal concern about what happens to everyone in this country. We cannot also celebrate the release of Zainab and forget Leah Sharibu who did not commit any crime but has been in captivity for over a year now.

“We, therefore, appeal to President Buhari to direct his security agencies to double their efforts and get Leah released and reunited with her parents. Leah, too, wants to enjoy the protection of her leaders.”

Wikileaks Founder Assange Faces Jail For UK Bail Breach

WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange will be sentenced Wednesday  for breaching a British court order seven years ago, when he took refuge in Ecuador's London embassy to avoid extradition to Sweden.

The Australian whistleblower, who was arrested on April 11 after Ecuador gave him up, could face a 12-month prison sentence when he appears at Southwark Crown Court at 10.30am local time (0930GMT).

Assange fled to the embassy in 2012 after a British judge ordered his extradition to face Swedish allegations of sexual assault and rape, which he strongly denied.

He claimed the allegations were a pretext to transfer him to the United States, where he feared prosecution over release by WikiLeaks of millions of classified documents.


There is no longer an active investigation in Sweden and the extradition request has lapsed.

However, the 47-year-old is facing a US extradition request, which was only revealed following his dramatic arrest, when he was dragged shouting from the embassy by police.

Assange appeared in court within hours of his arrest, and a judge found him guilty of breaching his bail conditions.

Nipsey Hussle's Sister Files Paperwork To Become His Daughter 's Legal Guardian

Nipsey Hussle's sister has filed a petition to be legal guardian of his daughter 10-year-old Emani Asghedom.

The late rapper's sister Samantha Smith recently submitted legal documents to LA County Superior Court, according to TMZ.

Insiders say that Smith is concerned that Emani's biological mother Tanisha is not fit to care for the child.

It's reported that Emani was being cared for by her father prior to his March 31 death.


Smith contends that she should takeover the role of caretaker since she has helped care for her niece for nearly all the child's life.

The rapper's sister is hoping 'to ensure the continued stability for Emani and ensure that she will be able to maintain [their] current and ongoing relationship.'

A judge has yet to rule on the matter.

Nipsey also has a two-year-old son, Kross, with longtime girlfriend Lauren London.

Television presenter Rochelle Humes has revealed the amazing story of how she reconnected with her long-lost younger sister Lili Piper after 23 years apart. 

The television presenter, 30, whose parents divorced when she was three years old, had only met her lookalike sibling once when she was five.

Rochelle grew up with her mother while Lili was raised by their father Mark Piper and they lived separate lives for two decades.

Soulja Boy Sentenced To 240 Days In Jail …

Soulja Boy will have to spend much of the rest of 2019 behind bars.

A Van Nuys Superior Court judge in California sentenced the rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, to 240 days in jail and 265 days of community service for violating the terms of his probation on a 2014 firearms charge.

The Chicago native was also credited with 40 days of time served.

Dressed in an orange LA County jail jumpsuit, the Cut Dat Check rapper was led into the courtroom with his hands cuffed in front of his stomach.


The judge stated that he had been considering a term of two-years in jail for his latest arrest, which included possession of ammunition and submission of bogus compliance records for community service.

'It really shows a lack of commitment to being on probation and a lack of respect to the court and the probation department,' the judge told the Chicago native in a video posted by TMZ.

Authorities claim Soulja forged paperwork to show community service that he didn't actually fulfill.

Police also found ammunition at his home, in response to a call from a woman who claimed he had held her hostage in his garage in February.     

The terms of his probation from his 2014 firearms arrest  strictly forbid him from possessing any guns or ammunition.

Three Selfie-Crazy Indian Teens Crushed By Train

Three teenagers were killed while taking selfies on a railway track in India, the country which researchers say has the worst record for selfie-related deaths.

A fourth youth managed to jump to safety before the accident in Panipat city in the northern state of Haryana, a police officer told AFP Wednesday.

"The victims were busy taking selfies and when they saw a train approaching they jumped to a second track without realising another train was coming on that," M. S. Dabas told AFP.

"One of them saved his life as he jumped on the other side of the track." The group had come to Panipat to attend a wedding. Two of those killed were 19-years old and the third was 18.


Experts warn that youngsters obsessed with social media are going to extreme lengths in order to post selfies seen as daring and risky.
