Lecturer Who Impregnated Nursing Student Finally Suspended

A lecturer with the Ogun State College of Health Technology, Ilese Ijebu, Dr Seyi Adu, has been indefinitely suspended by the college for allegedly having sex with a nursing student of the school, Mosunmola.

Though Mr Adu accepted he had sex with her, he said he never forced her into the act. Mosunmola got pregnant and was abandoned for a long time by Mr Adu before she cried out for help. Long story short, she has given birth, but we are not sure if Mr Adu has started playing his role as a father. He has now been suspended by the school authorities indefinitely. I think that is not a bad one.

Lagos: Grandma Sentenced To 25 Years In Jail For Drug Trafficking

A Federal High Court sitting in Lagos, yesterday, sentenced 64-year-old Odeyemi Omolola, who is charged before the court alongside a Lagos socialite, Mrs. Funmilola Ogbuaya, also known as Funmilola Ogundipe, popularly known in social circles as Ariket, to 25 years imprisonment, for attempting to export 1.595 kilogrammes of cocaine to Saudi Arabia.

Trial judge, Justice Hadizat Rabiu-Shagari sentenced the convict, who is also known as Ariyo Monsurat Olabisi, after she changed her plea in an amended five counts of the charge.

The convict was arraigned on three counts charge of conspiracy, unlawful possession of banned drug, and attempt to export the said banned drug to Saudi Arabia.


The Lagos socialite, Ariket, is facing charges bordering on conspiracy, aiding and abetting and procuring of the said banned drug for the convict.

The offences according to the prosecutor, Mr. Abu Ibrahim, are contrary to sections 14(b), 11(b) and 19 of the National Drugs Laws Enforcement Agency Act Cap N30, Laws of the Federation of Nigeria, 2004.

The two accused persons had pleaded not guilty when they were both arraigned before the court, sometimes in May, this year.

However, at the resumed trial of the two accused persons yesterday, the convict, Omolara, through her lawyer, Mr. King Wilson, informed the court of her intention to change her plea, particularly, on count four of the charge, which bothered on attempt to export 1.595 kilograms of Cocaine to Saudi Arabia.

Her request was granted by Justice Rabiu-Shagari, who ordered the charge be read to her again. Upon the re-read of the charge, the convict pleaded guilty, and the prosecutor urged the court to pronounce her guilty as charged, and to permit him to review the facts of the case against her and to tender exhibits she was arrested with.

Attempt by the convict’s lawyer, Mr. Wilson to convince the court to suspend pronouncement on her sentence failed, as the prosecutor, Mr. Ibrahim urged the court to go ahead and pronounce the sentence, after citing several plethora authorities.

In sentencing the convict, Justice Rabiu-Shagari after listening to the submissions of both parties said, “I have listened carefully of the defendant’s counsel, it’s true that sentence is not for punitive but reformatory and to serve as deterrent to others. Consequently, the convict is hereby sentenced to 25 years imprisonment, starting from when she was first arrested.”

The judge also ordered that the ECOWAS passports and the Egypt Air ticket be forfeited to the Federal government of Nigeria.

Presidency Defends Retention Of Presidential Jet In London

The Presidency today defended the retention of the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001, in London where President Muhammadu Buhari is currently receiving medical attention. Here's what they said in a statement released by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu. The statement read:

“The Presidency is constrained to decry criticisms, mostly on social media, on the retention in London of the Presidential Aircraft, NAF 001 as mostly informed by lack of understanding of protocol around foreign trips by Heads of State all over the world.

“It is important to state that for reasons of protocol, national security, diplomacy and prestige, there is no world leader who travels abroad and is left without plans for immediate return or possible evacuation.


“From operational point of view, this country’s Armed Forces as represented by the Nigeria Air Force are not to abandon their Commander-In-Chief in whichever circumstance he is. This is a standard operating procedure.”

“We have also read claims about outrageous fees allegedly paid by Nigeria. The published amounts are totally untrue. Aircraft conveying Heads of State all over the world usually enjoy waivers even where payments for parking are differentiated by aircraft categories.

“We have been assured that where the waiver is not granted, payment will not exceed £1,000, which is a quarter of the amount being peddled.

“For the avoidance of doubt, this President is not the first to have a presidential aircraft standing by for him, as he will certainly not be the last. All past Heads of this country have had this privilege, and the part that surprises the most is that leaders who in the past travelled with three Nigerian aircraft did not suffer this trenchant criticism.

“We appeal to Nigerians to ignore opposition campaign aimed at derailing this administration’s big plans for the country.

“This is a government that is constructing the Second Niger Bridge, the Mambila Power Plant, the East-West and the North-South standard gauge railway lines.

“We are a government that has saved this country an annual loss of two trillion Naira from fraudulent petroleum subsidy schemes by influential citizens and their children and rid the public service of about 50,000 ghost workers.

“The Buhari administration certainly deserves a chance.”

Meet The Indian Man Who Is 50 But Looks 5

From behind, Basori Lal could be mistaken for a child - standing at just 29 inches tall. But in fact he is 50 years old, and has become a celebrity in his village, located in Madhya Pradesh province, India, because of his short stature.

Basori says he was not always celebrated for his short stature - and had to overcome bullying in his younger years - but has now been dubbed a 'hero' by his proud family.

And Basori himself is quite happy with his unusual stature.

He said: 'I don't have a problem with my height. I work, live and sleep like other people. I also eat like normal people.


'Whatever I am is okay. I don't face any problems because of my height.'

But Basori had faced prejudice over his height earlier on in life.

As a toddler there was nothing to distinguish Basouri from his peers, and it was only around age five that his family started to notice he wasn't growing.

The family's economic situation meant that Basori was never given a medical diagnosis, and to this day his relatives have no idea what caused him to be so short.

Gopi said: 'Nobody was able to take him to a doctor. We are poor people, I am a labourer. Where would I take him?'

As Basori grew older, he encountered some tough times and experienced some bullying in his village, but thankfully those days are past.

He said: 'People used to bully me a lot. They used to call me an alien. But that time is gone now. I am the only one who is being loved by the villagers.'

Now, at the age of 50, Basori lives with his brother Gopi and Gopi's wife Satia.

He also works with his sister-in-law in a local factory, and she is keen to pay tribute to her tiny brother-in-law.

Satia, also aged 50, said: 'Basori is a man with positive thinking. He doesn't have any regret of being short. It doesn't bother him.

'All he needs is happiness, good people around him, and a good whiskey!'

Now, Basori is content to spend his life living with his brother and working in the factory to earn more money for the family.

He said: 'I don't want to get married. I want to work like I am doing right now. I always want to live with my brother.'

Indeed, Basori is so happy with his height that he drinks a special toast to it each evening before bed.

He said: 'I need a glass of whiskey before I go to sleep. That's my way of celebration.'
