Two major league American baseball players have been killed in two separate car crashes in the space of a few hours in the Same foreign country.

In what appears to be a bizarre coincidence, Yordano Ventura of the Kansas City Royals and former Cleveland Indians player Andy Marte have both died in the Dominican Republic in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Both appear to have been travelling on their own in separate vehicles when the accidents happened only a few hours apart.


Fearless right-hander Yordano Ventura - who played a crucial role steering Kansas City Royals to victory - was killed in a car accident in his native Dominican Republic on Sunday, the team confirmed on Sunday.

Ventura, 25, was killed on the Juan Adrián highway in San Jose de Ocoa.
