David Bowie was posthumously honoured at the 37th annual BRIT Awards ceremony on Wednesday, as he scooped Best British Male and Best Album.

His son Duncan Jones, picked up the Best Album award on his late father's behalf and gave an emotional speech, but later added that he 'forgot to mention "f**k cancer"'.

Bowie - who died of cancer in January 2016, just days after releasing his final album Blackstar - previously picked up three BRIT awards during his lifetime.

'I spent a lot of time after getting over the shock thinking what would I like my son to know about his granddad.

'It would be he has always been there supporting people who thought they were a little bit weird, strange, different.

'He’s always been there for them, this award is for all the kooks and all the people that make the kooks.'

He later added on Twitter: 'I did forget one little bit of the speech though.... F**k cancer. F**k it right off the planet.' I kinda like his last sentence. Yea right, get off the planet.
