Thousands Line The Streets To Pay Tribute To Physicist Stephen Hawking

Hawking, who died on March 14 at the age of 76, was famously an atheist but his children Lucy, Robert and Tim chose St Mary the Great, the church of Cambridge’s prestigious university, to say their farewell.

‘Our father’s life and work meant many things to many people, both religious and non-religious. So, the service will be both inclusive and traditional, reflecting the breadth and diversity of his life,’ they said.

A private reception is to follow at Trinity College. Although it is a private service, with around 500 of his family and friend expected to attend, the crowds have gathered to watch the funeral cortege.

The flags of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge, Trinity Hall, Cambridge and University College, Oxford are flying at half-mast in honour of Professor Hawking.

Tributes poured in from around the world upon Hawking’s death, from the Queen to NASA, reflecting his huge impact as a physicist and an inspiration, in his refusal to give up in the face of his crippling motor neurone disease.

Professor Hawking’s coffin will be carried by six porters from the college. An arrangement of white lilies, to represent the universe, and another of white roses as the polar star will be placed on Hawking’s solid oak coffin. When he arrives, the church bell will 76 times, once for each year of his life.

Eddie Redmayne, who was among the first mourners to arrive at the church, will read Ecclesiastes 3.1-11 at the service. He played Professor Hawking in The Theory of Everything, a movie about his life, a role for which he was awarded and Academy award. Felicity Jones, who played his wife, Jane Hawking in the adaptation, was not far behind alongside her fiancé Charles Guard.

Eulogies will be delivered by Robert Hawking, Prof Hawking’s eldest child, and Professor Fay Dowker, a former student of Prof Hawking.

The service will be officiated by the Reverend Dr Cally Hammond, Dean of Cambridge University’s Gonville and Caius College, where Prof Hawking was a fellow for 52 years.

Professor Hawking’s ashes will be interred in Westminster Abbey in June, next to Sir Isaac Newton.

‘For this reason, we have decided to hold his funeral in the city that he loved so much and which loved him. ‘Our father’s life and work meant many things to many people, both religious and non-religious.

So, the service will be both inclusive and traditional, reflecting the breadth and diversity of his life. ‘We would like to thank Gonville & Caius College, the University of Cambridge and Trinity College, Cambridge for their assistance with our father’s funeral service.’ Several thousand people have visited Gonville & Caius since Professor Hawking’s death to sign a book of condolence.’

Cop Sacked For Shooting Black Man Selling CDs

A Louisiana police officer shouted "stupid a** motherf***er" at a black man selling CDs after shooting him dead.

Shocking new footage of officer Blane Salamoni swearing over the lifeless body of Alton Sterling has emerged as the cop was sacked over the 2016 shooting.

Salamoni will not face criminal charges but the Baton Rouge police department found he had "violated department standards" through his use of force and losing his temper Police Chief Murphy Paul told a news conference.

The second officer, Howie Lake, was suspended for three days for failing to maintain his composure.

The decisions followed an administrative review of the July 2016 shooting, and both officers plan to appeal, Paul said.

The steps are designed “to bring closure to a cloud that has been over our community for far too long,” he said.

Sterling was among black men killed by police whose deaths sparked U.S. protests and helped fuel the Black Lives Matter movement.

Police released four videos of the confrontation with Sterling outside a convenience store, where he was selling CDs.

One showed Salamoni calling Sterling a "stupid a** mother f***er" as he stood over his lifeless body.

Salamoni said he was angry and blamed Sterling for having "forced" him to shoot.

Paul called the footage from a police dash camera, officers’ body cameras, and a store surveillance camera “graphic and shocking to the conscience.”

Salamoni’s camera shows him yelling at Sterling with expletives to put his hands on a car.

He points a gun at his Sterling’s head and shouts he will shoot him if he moves.

While struggling with Sterling, both officers’ cameras came loose.

Lake’s footage ends by showing Sterling on his back in the parking lot, blood draining from his body.

Sterling, 37, was shot after a resident reported he had been threatened by a black man selling CDs.

Police said Sterling was trying to pull a loaded gun out of his pocket when Salamoni opened fire.

Lawyers representing Sterling’s five children applauded Salamoni’s firing, but expressed disappointment that the officers would not face charges.

“The person who was out of control was Blane Salamoni,” attorney Michael Adams said at a news conference.

"The person who stood by and let him be out of control was Howie Lake. That’s a tragedy."

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry said this week that Lake and Salamoni would not face charges since they had reason to believe that Sterling was armed and was resisting arrest.

The U.S. Department of Justice declined to prosecute the officers for civil rights violations in 2017, citing insufficient evidence

3 Hero Schoolboys, Saved Man From Suicide.

Three heroic schoolchildren aged 12, 13 and 14 saved a man who had a rope around his neck and was trying to jump off of a bridge.

The boys were on their way back from school at the time and they saved the man's life while he stood on the edge of an A10 overpass in Waltham Cross, Hertfordshire on September 21 last year.

Devonte Cafferkey, 13, and Sammy Farah, 14, rushed to grab the man and persuade him not jump while their friend Shawn Young, who was 12 at the time, called for help

The boys are now set to be presented with national awards.

While they tried to stop the man jumping and talk him out of suicide, he passed the boys his mobile phone saying 'if it rings, don't answer it'.

The boys later appeared on This Morning and spoke about the incident with hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby.

On the show, Devonte Cafferkey said: 'Yeah we were the first to arrive. We were persuading him not to jump. He was crying and wiping his eyes. We said, "You’ve got family and stuff, it’s not worth it".'

The boys were also helped by 47-year-old Joanne Stammers, who is registered disabled with Klippel-Trénaunay syndrome, a rare disability that makes her highly prone to blood clotting.

Despite her condition, which prevents her from working, Joanne took over from the boys and held onto the man 'for what feels like forever'.

She was left with bruising all over her arms.

Another man, James Higlett, also helped to save the man's life.

All five will receive awards from the Royal Humane Society, a charity promoting life-saving intervention.

12-year-old Shawn's mother, Carol, was amazed at the boys' maturity and said they have 'just got on with it' since their brave rescue.

She said: 'I am extremely proud of all three of them, they are all good boys and it's nice that they are getting recognised for doing something good in the community.

'Quite often in the national news there are a lot of negative reports about young people so it is nice to have something positive.

'They are very young and I marvel at how they are all dealing with it. Every time I speak to them I learn something new about what happened.

'For example, the man was passing out and got heavier for them, I didn't know that until recently.'

Jacqueline Cafferkey, Devonte's mother, found out about the hero awards a couple of weeks ago and described it as a 'huge achievement'.

The three children, who go to St Mary's High School in Cheshunt, Hertfordshire, have already picked up Special Achievement Awards at the Broxbourne Youth Awards for their bravery.

Meanwhile, Ms Stammers described the award as a 'great honour' and said she is still in touch with Mrs Cafferkey.

'It's amazing to get this award, it's obviously under sad circumstances but it's also great that the kids are getting something for what they did,' she said.

'I am really pleased for them and I hope other children can see it's worth stopping to help someone.'

Ms Stammers, who was on her way back from visiting her mother in Waltham Cross when she saw Shawn calling for help, revealed she 'hates' going under the bridge now and avoids it when she can.

She still sees her mother once a week and pays special attention to any bridge she goes under to make sure nobody is standing by the edge.

The heroes of the day were nominated for their awards by Hertfordshire Police.

A date for the awards presentation has not yet been set.

NEMA Confirms 3 Killed In Maiduguri Suicide Attacks

The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) has confirmed the death of three suicide bombers at Muna area of Maiduguri in an attempt to infiltrate the town in Friday.

Four powerful explosions occurred between 9: 00 and 9: 30 pm, sending terrifying echoes to many parts of the town.

NEMA’s Northeast Zonal Coordinator, Mr Bashir Garga, who confirmed the incident, said that the blast occurred outside the town.

Garga disclosed that the suicide bombers detonated Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs) strapped to their bodies behind the security trench at Muna Garage area in the outskirts of Maiduguri.

He said that terrifying echoes by the explosions caused some residents of the area to flee which made them to sustain injuries.

Garga added that the wounded were referred to hospital for treatment in Maiduguri.

“Details on the incident is still sketchy. It occurred behind the trenches and only the suicide bombers were killed,” he said, adding that normalcy has been restored to the area.

Muna garage is prone to suicide bomb attacks and the military had imposed a dusk to dawn curfew to secure the area.

The Weeknd Hints That He Offered Selena Gomez His Kidney

Selena famously received a kidney from her friend Francia Raisa last year, after being diagnosed with Lupus.

'The Weeknd Almost gave Selena Gomez his Kidney and I can't even get a text back,' many fans tweeted.

The Weeknd almost gave Selena Gomez his kidney only for her to get back together with her ex,' many more lamented.

The majority of tweets however thanked Gomez for her public service.

'Shout out to Selena Gomez for breaking The Weeknd’s heart, cause i needed this album,' one summarized .

Other lyrics form his new EP My Dear Melancholy are believed to relate to his brief but intense romance with his fellow singer, which took place between two of her relationships with Justin Bieber.

'Guess I was just another pit stop / 'Til you made up your mind / You just wasted my time,' he also laments in Call Out My Name.

He also talks about how the duo found each other during trying times with the lyrics: 'We found each other / I helped you out of a broken place / You gave me comfort / But falling for you was my mistake.'

The Weeknd and Selena began dating at the start of 2017, during which time the starlet largely kept out of the spotlight while dealing with her health and other personal matters.

Soon after Tesfaye and Gomez's split in October 2017, she was seen spending time with on-off ex Justin Bieber.

The I Feel It Coming singer enjoyed a stroll out in LA Thursday, only hours after releasing his highly anticipated EP the night prior.

Immediately after the record's release, fans of the Toronto, Canada native were sent into a frenzy as they speculated about which songs were about the musician's famous ex girlfriends.

The Starboy singer — birth name Abel Makkonen Tesfaye — was also previously linked to as well as model Bella Hadid, 21.

While out, the Grammy winner was dressed down in a baggy hoodie, grey sweatpants and a backwards cap while appearing at ease after dropping his follow-up to 2016's hit Starboy

Another tune, titled Wasted Times, had fans thinking he was singing about missing ex Bella Hadid.

It was hard to read the provocative line: 'You were equestrian, so ride it like a champion' as anything other than a reference to the IMG beauty, whose passion for horseback riding is no secret.

'Wasted times I spent with someone else,' he continued, possibly referring to his ill-fated romance with Gomez.

Though it's been rumored The Weeknd and Bella are hanging out once more, he hinted that the pair weren't exactly on speaking terms, singing: 'But you've been with me from the beginnin' (ooh, yeah, yeah) / And I know right now that we're not talkin' (not talkin'.)'

The Weekend and Bella began dating at the start of 2015 and were first spotted together during Coachella of that same year.

But the duo split up in November of 2016, citing 'scheduling conflicts' as the reason for their break-up

It appears that a reunion could be on the horizon, though. Since The Weeknd called things quits with Gomez last fall, he and Bella have been rumored to be spending time together once again.

The musical artist was even seen leaving Bella's NYC apartment after late-night rendezvous last November.

Man Nailed To The Cross 32 Times To Re-Enact Jesus Christ’s Crucifixion

A Philippine man, Ruben Enaje, who has been nailed to a cross every Easter for the past 32 years in a Good Friday re-enactment of Jesus Christ’s crucifixion says he no longer feels any pain from his wounds.

Enaje, 58, again portrayed Christ on Friday in the traditional religious rite in Cutud village, about 76 km (47 miles) from the capital Manila.

“In the past, I went home injured and limping, but this year I feel so great,” Enaje said after the ritual held under a sweltering sun.

He said he believed his strong Catholic faith helped him avoid pain.

“I feel like he is telling me ‘go ahead, keep it up’,” he said, referring to God.

Easter is a festival marking the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ.

About 80 percent of the 105 million people in the Philippines, a former Spanish colony, are Catholic.

Enaje said he felt strong enough to perform in two or three more crucifixions, until he turns 60.

Enaje was among three devotees nailed to wooden crosses in the village on Friday, including a woman taking part for the seventh time.

Actors wearing Roman soldier costumes attached the devotees to crosses by hammering two-inch nails soaked in alcohol through their hands and feet and hoisted them up in a field packed with domestic and foreign tourists.

The Catholic Church in the Philippines tolerates the ritual but says it does not support such gory displays of devotion, describing them as a “misinterpretation of faith”.

Many Catholics in the Philippines perform religious acts of penance during the Holy Week at Easter as a form of worship and supplication.

Some believe penance cleanses sins, cures illnesses and even leads to wishes coming true.

Ireland Lifts Good Friday Alcohol Ban

For almost a century, selling alcohol had been banned on Good Friday - a legacy of Ireland's Christian traditions.

But in January 2018 the Irish parliament passed new legislation which means this year will be different.

So what's the story for 2018? And who stands to gain from the change?

Pubs in the Republic will welcome Easter revellers from 10:30 until closing time at 00:30.

Off-licences may see some changes too, with fewer booze-desiring customers stocking up a day in advance.

Good Friday is traditionally a popular time for house parties in the Republic, as friends and loved ones gather at home instead of the local boozer. But with the pub doors suddenly open, some may decide they'd rather skip the washing-up.

It's good news for tourists seeking a tipple too. On Good Fridays past, hapless foreigners unaware of the drinks ban could be found wandering the streets of Dublin in a futile search for a pint. The most dedicated were even spotted boarding trains or ferries to exploit an infamous loophole - the on-board bar.

Tiffany Haddish BANNED From Revealing Who Bit Beyonce Because 'NDAs Are Real'

The mystery of who bit Beyonce may one day be unraveled.

But Tiffany Haddish, who publicly revealed the bite had happened, will not be the one to disclose the identity of the perpetrator.

The comedienne and Girls Trip actress, 38, went live on Instagram and indicated she had singed a Nondisclosure Agreement preventing her from giving the name.

(Earlier this week, it was reported that Haddish had told friends privately that Sanaa Lathan was the culprit. The Love & Basketball actress has publicly denied she was responsible, tweeting: 'Y'all are funny. Under no circumstances did I bite Beyoncé and if I did it would've been a love bite.')

'Y'all need to stop asking me about this Beyonce stuff because NDAs are real. I'm not saying nothing else,' Haddish said near the end of the video on Wednesday, according to E!.

Tiffany set off this biting furor when she gave an interview to GQ and dished about a party she attended in December, where Beyonce introduced herself to her.

Confided Tiffany: 'There was this actress there that's just, like, doing the mostest,' specifically in the sense that 'She bit Beyonce in the face.'

As the evening wound down, 'I said to Beyonce: "Did she really bite you?" She was like: "Yeah." I was like: "She gonna get her a** beat tonight."'

Beyonce, however, 'was like: "Tiffany, no. Don't do that. That b**** is on drugs. She not even drunk. The b**** is on drugs. She not like that all the time. Just chill."'

On her Instagram Live feed, Tiffany vamped for a while, doing a bit where she misled viewers into thinking she would name the biter.

'You wanna know who bit Beyonce? I'm gonna just tell you all. And this is the last time I'm talking about it. I ain't going to say nothing else about it. Let me sip some of my tea. I'm going to tell you who did it then I'm never talking about it again because, really, it's done.'

She plowed ahead: 'People should be focusing on the real issues at hand, like did you do your taxes? Because taxes is due real soon. Can your children - do they know how to read and write? Have you been working with them on their reading and their writing? Is your house clean? That's what we need to be focusing on,' she said.

'But y'all wanna know. Everybody's going crazy about who bit Beyoncé. I'm going to tell you so this can just be done with.'

The punchline was: 'It was Stormy Daniels. Pay attention to what's really going on! That's not real news. Who bit Beyonce is not real news!'

Stormy Daniels is the porn star who has publicly claimed on numerous occasions - including on 60 Minutes last weekend - that she had sex with Donald Trump.

Tiffany said: 'Stormy Daniels bit Beyonce. She's an actress. She also works with the president, as I sip my tea (my water tea).'

In response to viewer interest in the story, she said: 'Why is who bit Beyonce global news? They didn't even, like, take a chunk out of her face. It's not even that serious.'

Though Tiffany will not talk, the public can still hold on to hope that the biter will eventually become known - Chrissy Teigen has tweeted that she knows who bit Beyonce, and she has not as yet said she signed a Nondisclosure Agreement.

Millionaire Trader Who Attacked Her Husband With A Knife After He Cheated On Her With Her Friend Jailed

A millionaire hedge fund trader who attacked her husband with a seven inch knife after finding out he was having an affair with her horse-riding friend has been jailed for 15 months.

Nasreen Knight had days earlier rammed her husband Julian Knight's Land Rover with her Nissan when she discovered the pair had spent the night together.

Lincoln Crown Court heard Knight lunged at her husband and smashed his glasses before later attacking him in the laundry room of their farmhouse.

Knight, a mother-of-four who previously had an affair herself, punched Ms Hillyer and pulled her hair before she was arrested.
She was bailed on condition that she did not return to the house.

The scorned wife then turned up eight days after the bust-up and demanded her retired husband drop the charges so she could secure a job with Bloomberg.

Knight had been involved in a road collision and her husbands had seen her staggering towards the property clutching a bottle of vodka.

Mr Knight allowed her inside due to her facial injuries.

Mark Achurch, prosecuting, said: 'She was lying down incomprehensible, either through drink or the accident or both.

'The defendant grabbed a kitchen knife from the drawer. She lunged out at him holding the knife in a dagger-style position.'

The couple grappled with one another and Mr Knight's finger was cut during the altercation before he was able to disarm his wife.

She then attacked her husband a second time - biting him on the shoulder, punching him and pulling his hair - before reaching for the knife again and running around looking for the mistress.

Mr Achurch added: 'She was shouting "where is Erika? I want to kill her!"'

Ms Hillyer, who was hiding under the stairs, was able to phone police as Knight stormed around looking for her.

Knight, who speaks five languages and was a director of US-based Striquer LLP, was arrested.

The trader, of Frieston, Lincolnshire, admitted charges including actual bodily harm and assault by beating.

Judge Simon Hirst sentenced Nasreen for 15 months due to the level of violence and use of the knife.

He told her: You are a highly educated woman. You speak five languages and you were a hedge fund trader in London.

'These offences occurred at a very difficult time during the break down of your marriage. There was a degree of goading.

'I’m afraid the level of violence, the use of a weapon and the persistent nature of the offending on two separate days means this is so serious that there must be an immediate custodial sentence.'

Clarkson Baptiste, in mitigation, said of Knight: 'She is of previous good character. She is very sorry for what she has done.

'Her whole life had been turned upside down. She feels that she had been usurped by another.

'She realises that the relationship with her ex partner is over.'

Boy, 11, Who Plunged From Russian Mall Fire Survived

Tragic Sergei Moskalenko - who fell four storeys and suffered serious injuries in the Kemerovo inferno  has not yet been told his parents and little sister were killed in the appalling fire, say relatives.

The boy, 11, is out of danger and conscious despite multiple fractures after striking an air conditioner and awning as he fell 40 feet to the ground while escaping thick black smoke.

The shocking video of his terrifying fall was seen around the world.

Doctors asked him if he remembered how he came to be in hospital, and he told them: 'I was flying...'

Some witnesses believe his father pushed him as he clung to the window ledge.

If so, the last act of Evgeny, 35, saved the child's life.

His parents and sister were on the inside of the smoking window from where he jumped - and this is where they died.

Sergei hit obstacles as he fell but was caught by men holding a rug below.

Funerals for Evgeny, mother Olesya, 30, and sister Ksenia, four, have been held in the Russian city.

Kim Kardashian's Daughter North Feeds Elephant As Kanye West Dotes On Son Saint During Zoo Day

They're doting parents who relish time with their little ones. Kim Kardashian and her husband Kanye West enjoyed a family day at the San Diego Zoo with their children.

Proud dad Kanye, 40, doted on his son Saint, two, as the duo posed for a sweet father-son photo, all documented on Kim's Instagram stories on Thursday.

Kanye had his arms wrapped around his little boy as he flashed a proud smile while clad in a grey sweatshirt, bright green shorts, and a beige hat to cap off the look.

North, four, meanwhile, clearly had the time of her life as she fed an elephant a leaf of lettuce.

The youngster placed the vegetable against the elephant's outreached snout.

Clearly having a blast, North also flashed a peace sign for the camera as she posed beside the animal.

She also flashed a bright smile while taking a photo beside a hippo as he fed off a pile of vegetation.

'Thank you @sandiegozoo,' Kim captioned the picture of her daughter.

Not pictured during the family outing was the couple's newborn daughter, Chicago, who the twosome welcomed via surrogate in January.

Kim has been busy with the launch of her upcoming cosmetics collaboration, so no doubt the reality star was overjoyed to play her favorite role of doting mom on Thursday.

The star and her makeup artist Mario Dedivanovic are launching a makeup collaboration, set for release on April 5; the KKW Beauty collection is called KKW X Mario.

The collection includes an eye shadow palette with 10 colors, as well as a creme lipstick and two high shine glosses.

Chinese Arraigned For Attempting To Smuggle N108m Outside Nigeria

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission has arraigned a Chinese national, Li Yanping, before Justice Babatunde Quadri of a Federal High Court, Abuja, for allegedly concealing the sum of $300,000 (N108m) while attempting to board a flight to Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The EFCC said in a statement that Yanping failed to inform officers of the Nigerian Customs Service as required by Section 2 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012).

The accused was arrested by the Presidential Task Force on Trans Border Cash Movement on March 15, 2018, for failure to disclose the said sum while attempting to board an Emirate flight, EK 8786 en route to Dubai. He was handed over to the EFCC for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The charge read, “That you, Li Yanping, on or about March 15, 2018, at the Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport, Abuja, within the jurisdiction of the Federal High Court, had in your possession cash in the sum of $300,000 during your outbound clearance for travel to Dubai and failed to declare the said sum of $300,000 to the officers and men of the Nigerian Customs Service as required under the provision of Section 2 (3) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 (as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012), thereby committing an offence punishable under Section 2(5) of the Money Laundering (Prohibition) Act, 2011 ( as amended by Act No. 1 of 2012).”

The defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.

Following his plea, counsel for the EFCC, Ene Emonye, asked the court to fix a date for trial and to remand the defendant in EFCC custody pending trial.

Yanping’s counsel, Chinedu Eze, however, prayed the court to admit the defendant to bail.

While moving the application brought under sections 35(1)  and (4) and 36 (5) and (6) of the 1999 Constitution and sections 158, 162, 163 & 165 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act, 2015, Eze urged the court to exercise its discretion in favour of his client by releasing him on bail pending trial.

Justice Quadri granted the accused bail in the sum of N10m with two sureties in like sum.

The sureties, according to him, must not be below salary grade level 12 in any of the federal ministries or parastatals, and must have traceable addresses.

He added that the sureties must comply with bail bonds accompanied with their passports.

“The defendant is to be remanded in the custody of the EFCC until the perfection of his bail conditions,” the judge said.

The case was adjourned till April 17, 2018 for hearing.

Two Students Found Dead After Heavy Flood In Lagos

Two male students of a private secondary school were picked up dead in the flood after a heavy rain in Alagbado area of Lagos on Thursday, witnesses confirmed.

The witnesses said the boys were found floating on water at Casso Bus Stop on Lagos/Abeokuta Expressway by shop owners and people waiting to board vehicles to their destinations.

Some commercial motorcycle riders carried them to a private hospital which confirmed them dead.

A witness said she and others were taking shelter from the rain in a nearby shop when they noticed the floating bodies on the water.

“That was how we discovered the boys and quickly the Okada (motorcycle riders) people rushed and lifted them on their shoulders but they were lifeless because their legs and hands were just dangling, the witness said

It was reported that there was heavy rain in the area in the afternoon which resulted in heavy flooding

Gunmen Kill Edo APC Leader

Unknown gunmen have shot dead a leader of the All Progressives Congress in Edo State, Mr. Samson Sedi, in the Etsako West Local Government Area of the state.

It was gathered that Sedi, who was the youth leader of the APC in the area, was killed in Jattu on Wednesday.

The state Commissioner of Police, Mr. Johnson Kokumo, confirmed the incident to our correspondent on Thursday.

According to a source, the deceased, also known as “Power Remain,” died after he was attacked by suspected armed robbers at an NNPC mega station in Jattu.

But Kokumo said that the incident was being investigated as a case of murder as the victim was not dispossessed of his belongings.

The police commissioner said, “We are investigating a murder case. We are not investigating armed robbery. Nobody was dispossessed in this particular case.

“So, what we are investigating is murder and not armed robbery. We have set things in motion. Our men are out there and I assure you that, with intelligence-led policing, we will soon bring the culprits to book.”

Governor Godwin Obaseki, who condemned the killing, described it as shocking.

Simon Cowell's Ex Suing Tyga Over Non Payment Of Rent, Tells Court, Evict Him & Get Me My Rent

Tyga is nothing if not predictable, because he's being sued again where he lives and he also got his poor little son sued in the process.

Mezhgan Hussainy, Simon Cowell's makeup artist who he was once set on marrying, has a super cool house in Bev Hills that she rented to him for $40k a month. Tyga moved in in March 2017 and paid rent for awhile until he didn't.

Hussainy claims the rent check stopped in January and he's made no effort to catch up.

She's suing to evict Tyga and get all of the back rent. It's interesting, one of the defendants is Tyga's son, King Cairo because Tyga put the kid's name on the lease. The child is listed as "other defendants" in the body of the lawsuit.

UMG Sued Over Ariana Grande's Song

Ariana Grande's sexy reggae-pop tune featuring Nicki Minaj is a blatant rip-off of another song, just with their vocals added in, according to a new suit.

Texan man Christopher R. O'Connor claims "Side To Side" -- Grande's smash hit from her 2016 "Dangerous Woman" album is essentially his track called "J5 (T6)" ... but someone from UMG Recordings discovered it and got Ariana and Nicki to copy it.

O'Connor says he reached out to UMG about the alleged copyright violation and was instructed to send in a demo but the company didn't address his accusation of song stealing.

O'Connor also says he believes UMG has found some more of his songs online and used them to produce other copies by artists like Mike Shinoda and Taylor Swift.

He's suing UMG, not Grande or Minaj asking for royalties from "Side To Side" (which currently has over a billion views on YouTube) and a song-writing credit.

So far no words from UMG yet.

Man Bathes Girlfriend With Acid After Family Rejects Marriage Proposal

The police in Borno on Thursday confirmed the arrest of one Musa Faisal in connection with alleged acid attack on his 26-year old girlfriend, Fatima Usman.

The Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Damian Chukwu, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Maiduguri.

Fatima Usman, a final year student of Department of Nursing, University of Maiduguri was attacked with corrosive fluid by suspected tricycle operators in Maiduguri on March 16.

She sustained serious injuries on the face and other parts of her body as a result of the attack.

The attack generated public outcry with women groups calling for proactive measures to protect women from abuse and regulate activities of tricycle operators in the metropolis.

Chukwu disclosed that the suspect, Musa Faisal, was arrested by men of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad in Kano.

He explained that the police had also arrested one Muhammad Babangida, who conspired with Faisal and attacked the girl.

The commissioner said a preliminary investigation indicated that the suspects conspired and assaulted the girl, contrary to the notion that she was attacked by tricycle operators.

The police boss also revealed that the suspect and the victim dated for over four years and Fatima Usman’s parents rejected the marriage proposal by Faisal.

He added that “our findings indicated that the girl and the suspect had been meeting in secret for a long period of time.

“On the day of the attack, she arranged to meet the suspect at a hotel in Galadima area of Maiduguri and while they were inside a room, his accomplice, Muhammad Babangida joined them.

“Babangida was the one who poured acid on Usman and in the process, some of the liquid spilled over to Faisal.

“It is also established that the suspect vowed to deal with the girl since her family resented their union.”

Chukwu said that the suspects had admitted committing the offence, adding that they would soon be charged to court.

Marenikae: AJEBUTTER : THE ALBUM

Ajebutter is the debut Album from Nigerian singer/songwriter MARENIKAE. An eclectic mix of rich African culture meshed with Western European subtexts and overtones, the project is a refreshing journey into the mind of a Nigerian millennial with womanist roots.

The album is bold and tasteful. The pace is familiar, marked with African drum beats and patterns, yet complemented by MARENIKAE’s signature sound which is rooted in a blend of neo soul and afropop with electronic vibes throughout.

Her vocals range from sultry, to passionate; flirtatious to bold; transitioning between tracks and sometimes verses.  Besides its cultural influence, Ajebutter is the product of the millennial mind-set challenging age old beliefs and cultural norms.

You can hear the range of Marenikae’s musical influences on the album ranging all the way from Nigerian artists like 9ice & Styl-plus to British Freddie Mercury and 90’s girl group Spice Girls.

The term Aje-butter is a Nigerian slang that seeks to devalue children of the affluent pitting their privileged birth against society’s perception of them. MARENIKAE recalls being taunted with the term throughout childhood.

After growing into her ‘’independence’’ as an artist she jumped at the opportunity to redefine the cultural label that creates a socioeconomic division and prohibits inclusion into the larger society. The album was released March 11th 2018.

When the charges were read to the accused, he pleaded not guilty, and the prosecution prayed the court to commence trial.

“My Lord, the frightening aspect is that most of the hard drugs found in the accused possession are expired drugs, which if they find their way into the market would have posed serious danger to the lives of innocent Nigerians, ” he said.

Pope Under Attack Over Canadian School Abuse

Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said he was disappointed by the refusal of Pope Francis to personally apologise for the role of the Catholic Church in abuse suffered by tens of thousands of Indigenous children at Canada’s infamous Indian residential schools.

“Obviously I’m disappointed with the Catholic Church’s decision not to apologise for their role in residential schools,” Trudeau told reporters, adding that he would continue pressing the pontiff for an apology.

It is estimated that more than 150,000 First Nations, Inuit and Metis children were separated from their families and forced into residential schools run by the Catholic and Anglican churches on behalf of the federal government over much of the last century.

It was part of a deliberate policy of forced assimilation to “take the Indian out of the child.”

Canada’s Truth and Reconciliation Commission has called it “a cultural genocide.”

A papal apology was one of the 94 Calls to Action recommended by the commission on the road to reconciliation between Canada and its Indigenous population in 2015.

However, a letter released Tuesday by the president of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) said Pope Francis could not personally apologise for residential schools.

“The Holy Father is aware of the findings of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission, which he takes seriously,” said the letter from Bishop Lionel Gendron, president of the CCCB.

“As far as Call to Action #58 is concerned, after carefully considering the request and extensive dialogue with the Bishops of Canada, he [Francis] felt that he could not personally respond.”

Ted Quewezance, who was abused while attending a Catholic residential school, told CBC News he was disgusted with the pontiff’s stance.

“They haven’t changed their position from day one. And they never will. The only thing [the Church] could say is sorry he got caught, that’s all,” said Quewezance.

“They know they did wrong. When you do wrong, you apologise.”

The pontiff’s refusal to extend a personal apology has perplexed many Canadian Catholics, especially since Pope Francis has extended similar apologies for the treatment of Indigenous people in Latin America, as well as
to victims of sexual abuse in Ireland.

Assembly of First Nations National Chief Perry Bellegarde said he too would be writing to Pope Francis to seek a meeting to discuss an apology

Government Shuts 23 Radio Stations For "Promoting Witchcraft"

Ugandan authorities have shut down 23 radio stations for “promoting witchcraft’’ and trying to con people out of money.

The stations’ licencses were suspended after they had guests on air who claimed they could heal diseases like HIV, Pamela Ankunda, the Uganda Communications Commission spokesperson, told dpa on Wednesday.

“The radios have been promoting witchcraft. People claimed on these radios to cure diseases like AIDS and cancer,’’ she said.

“These people have been fraudulently getting money from the public,’’ she added.

“Their operations and licences have been suspended until they are able to assure the commission through writing that they will abide by the minimum broadcasting standards,’’ Ankunda said.

She said that Uganda has 292 radio stations, mostly privately-owned.

It is not uncommon for various religious leaders, self-proclaimed prophets and traditional healers in Africa to claim being able to cure HIV and other incurable diseases.
