7 Arrested For Stealing, Cult-Related Activities

The Lagos State Police Command announced yesterday the arrest of seven persons in connection with stealing and involvement in cult activities.

While describing the development as good for the safety of residents of the city, Commissioner of Police in the state, Mr. Edgal Imohimi, said that there would no longer be a hiding place for criminal-minded individuals in Lagos.

Among those arrested are two men, Ifeanyi Okafor and Okonkwo Nnamdi caught for burglary and stealing of goods worth millions of naira at the Trade Fair Complex.

According to the police boss, they were nabbed by the Divisional Police Officer of Trade Fair at about 9:00pm on April 26.


Also, a dreaded cult leader of the Aiye Confraternity tormenting residents of Oworonshoki and environs, Damilare Darey a.k.a Narrow, has been arrested.

He was said to have been apprehended following intelligence reports gathered by the police over several weeks.

The suspect is said to be helping the police track other members of the dreaded cult group still at large.

In a similar vein, three secondary school pupils and another young man were arrested for belonging to terror gangs.

The Divisional Police Officer of Ilupeju arrested the teenagers, who include Mayowa Oguntoye, Femi Awoniyi, Dauda Sadiq, Temileyin Balogun and Ajala Afeez.

While expressing concern over the growing number of teenagers involved in cultism, Imohimi called on parents, guardians and even school authorities to pay more attention to the activities of their wards and students.
