Now he is begging his daughter to get in contact because he is worried he won't get the chance to make amends with her if he were to die suddenly.
Mr Markle claims he was shunned by the Royal Family since he sold staged pictures of himself to the paparazzi in the run up to the royal wedding.
He then spoke about Meghan in a revealing TV interview in June.
The 73-year-old ex-Hollywood lighting director suffered a heart attack six years ago and was recovering from surgery when Meghan walked down the aisle in May.
'I had a heart attack...I could actually die soon. Does she want this to be the last thing we've said to each other?' he told The Sun on Sunday.
Mr Markle said he was 'sorry for anything that went wrong' and that he missed her 'very much' and was very proud.
He said this was the longest he has gone without speaking to Meghan and that staff at Kensington Palace had not been responding to his texts.
The last contact he had with his daughter was just after her wedding in May, when he wished her a happy honeymoon over the phone.
His message to his daughter would be 'I'd like to put our differences behind us and get together. I miss you very much', he said.
Remembering the day his daughter was born, he said she was 'the most beautiful child' and 'it was love at first sight'.
Mr Markle, who is also father to Samantha, 53, and Tom Jr., 51, gave Meghan the nickname 'Bean' after reading her Jack and the Beanstalk.
