They announced their split after six years of dating shortly after Jamie Foxx was seen holding hands with his young protégée.

Following reports that Katie Holmes was the one to sever the relationship, sources have given some clarity on her motivations.

According to Us Weekly, the 40-year-old Dawson's Creek star decided to go her separate way because of the 51-year-old actor and singer's hard-partying lifestyle and his dalliances with other women.

'It has been many years of him stepping out with other women,' a source close to Katie said.


'He’s disrespectful and their lives were different. His partying ways don’t fit with hers as she’s focused on raising her daughter and working.'

 Katie shares a daughter, 13-year-old Suri, from her marriage to Tom Cruise.

The celebrity couple began dating in 2005 and were married the following year. She filed for divorce in 2012 and the settlement was finalized less than two weeks later.

On Monday, it was confirmed that the two had broken up.
