And on Sunday, Vanessa Bryant, 37, shared a touching tribute for her daughter Gianna.
She posted a photo of a new tattoo family friend Sydney Leroux got in honor of her Gianna's memory - featuring her jersey number.
Vanessa posted a closeup of the fresh ink, which was done up in a simple block numeral with black ink.
'#2❤️,Leroux . I love you @sydneyleroux Thank you,' she wrote, adding the hashtags '#GigiBryant' and '#2.'
She later tweaked the caption to say: '#2 [heart] Leroux. Thank you for honoring my Gigi. I love you @sydneyleroux.'
Sydney is a professional soccer player who plays as a forward for the Orlando Pride and a former mentee of Kobe.
'Gigi you were a star. Your dad told me that you were going to be better than he was,' she wrote in an Instagram tribute shortly after the two were killed in a helicopter crash along with seven other people on January 26.
'You had the gift no matter what you were playing. I know you’ll be looking down on your mom and your sisters with your big smile while shooting hoops with your dad, doing what you both love. 2 will always be ours.'
Presumably, Sydney has been by Vanessa's side as she has struggled to move forward in the wake of unimaginable tragedy.
