Residents of Halleluyah Estate in Ido Osun, in the Egbedore Local Government Area of Osun State, have apprehended an operator of a drinking joint, identified as Sikiru Adeosun, inside a bush at the Gaa Fulani area of the estate.

Adeosun was arrested while fleeing his residence after allegedly killing his girlfriend.

Adeosun was caught around 7am while fleeing his house in the Agunbelewo area of Osogbo, where he had allegedly beat up his girlfriend to death.

A resident of the estate, who identified himself as Seun Oloruntoba, told a Punch correspondent that residents observed that Adeosun put on a bloodstained shorts and a wet T-shirt.

He stated that when Adeosun was questioned, he was incoherent, adding that his conduct raised suspicion, making the residents to raise the alarm.

Leaders of the community, who were said to have prevented the residents from lynching him, took Adeosun to the Dada Estate Police Station where the police allegedly stated that the suspect had been declared wanted for allegedly killing his girlfriend, who was also his salesgirl at the joint.

Oloruntoba said, “I heard a noise at around 7.15am last Monday and I went out. I saw residents of our estate gathered round a man, who was caught in a bush.

“When we asked him what he was doing inside the bush, he started rambling. The residents thought he was a thief and they wanted to lynch him.

“We are vigilant in the area because armed robbers have been raiding houses. However, we took him to the Dada Estate Police Station and it was there that we were told that his neighbours had reported him at the station for killing his girlfriend, who was from Benue State.”

Another resident, Kehinde Olaniyi, also said residents of the estate were able to catch Adeosun because of their vigilance.

He said the name of the victim was not known.
