Wayne Lomax, 32, had to do some quick-talking when new wife Natalie, 29, discovered he'd been walking around with the wrong date on his finger after they said it took them SIX weeks to notice the mistake.
The plasterer had decided it would be romantic to get their wedding date tattooed on his ring finger in lieu of wearing a ring for fear he would lose the jewelry while at work.
It wasn't until Natalie was telling pals at a party about his romantic gesture six weeks later that the red-faced couple realised he gave the tattoo artist the wrong date, swapping August 25, 2017 for July 25.
Luckily mum-of-three Natalie saw the funny side and claims it was something that 'could only happen to them'.
Natalie, from York, said: "It just basically sums up how we are. Everything is a laugh and a joke.
"Everyone says 'that could only happen to you two - that's just you two all over'.
"Because he's a self-employed plasterer, he can't really wear a wedding ring with his job.
"So we said before [the wedding] we'd get the ring for the day and then after that he'd get my name tattooed down one side of his finger and the date of the wedding on the other side of his finger.
"It wasn't until five or six weeks after that we were all at a party, and I was telling people he'd had the tattoo done.
"He's not got a very good pain threshold so he was in agony getting it done. I'd been telling people how much it was hurting and something clicked in my brain.
"I said, actually, can I just look at it? Instead of 25.08.17 he had 25.07.17. He'd got July instead of August.
"I was like, you've got the wrong date and he said he hadn't, and then I said 'look that's July and we got married in August'.
"So we both stood staring for ages and burst out laughing.
"He said it was my fault and I said, 'how's it my fault, you told the woman what to do and got it done'.
"I think he told them the wrong date. He'd been putting [the date] into an app on his phone to see what kind of font he wanted.
"He got it wrong in his phone and he showed them [the date] off his phone when he got there.
"We both found it so funny."
The incorrect wedding date just added to Wayne's collection of strange tattoos - after getting his own name tattooed on his arm at 16.
