NLC Rejects N22,500 By Governors, Tells Workers To Prepare For Strike
The Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC) has rejected the N22,500 proposed by the state governors as the New National Minimum Wage for workers in the country.
Mr Ayuba Wabba, NLC president, said this while briefing newsmen on Wednesday in Abuja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF) had issued a communique after its meeting claiming that state governors can only pay N22, 500, as the new national minimum wage.
“We wish to reiterate our position adopted at our National Executive Council (NEC) meeting on Oct. 23 that any figure below N30, 000 will not be accepted by us.
“We call on our members to continue to mobilise in preparation for the commencement of an indefinite strike on Nov. 6, if by then necessary steps are not taken to adopt the recommendation of the Tripartite Committee,” Wabba said.
The NLC president also said that the NGF was not a negotiating body but merely a party in the negotiation for the convenience of state governors.

Low Birth Rate! Italy Promises To Give Parents Who Agree To Have A 3rd Child A Piece Of Land
Italy's populist government plans to reward parents who have a third child by awarding them a piece of land, in a bid to reverse the country's plummeting birth rate.
The plan, cooked up by the far-right League and included in the draft budget for next year, would see the state hand over parcels of agricultural land for 20 years to parents who have a third child between 2019 and 2021.
'They say that Italians have few children and that something is needed to turn the trend around,' said agriculture minister Gian Marco Centinaio.
'That's why the ministry wants to contribute, favouring rural areas in particular, where people still have children,' he added.
Italy has the lowest birthrate in Europe.
Last year, about 464,000 births were registered, a record low, leaving Italy with a significantly older population and a demographic time bomb.

The National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, on
Wednesday said that the Presidential candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar is going nowhere in the 2019 election.
Tinubu was reacting to the meeting of Atiku in Dubai over 2019 election.
He spoke with State House correspondents after meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

When asked if he was jittery about Atiku meeting in Dubai to unseat Buhari, he said “We don’t fear, whether it is in the jungle, or is in Dubai or is in Abu Dhabi, people are free to meet and strategize in any way they form but we are not going back to the illusion of the PDP.
“It is not possible, Nigerians will not do that. They say slow and steady wins the race; we inherited that from our forefathers and knowledgeable people.
“We can’t go back to the pit that we inherited for 16 years. They can strategies from anywhere but a leopard cannot change it skin,” he said.

3 Transgender Best Friends Transition Together At Age 11 & Have FULL Support Of Parents
Three transgender friends are supporting each other as they transition from male to female age 11. Lily, Fiana and Zuri have been diagnosed with gender dysphoria and will soon undergo medical intervention to prevent their bodies changing from that of boys to men.
Lily, 11, from the Austin area of Texas, has already begun taking hormone blockers to prevent her going through male puberty an irreversible change her parents wrestled with before undertaking.
“Around the age of two, Lily started asking for different types of toys, and then after that, the first big thing that we noticed was that she wanted to dress as Cinderella for Halloween,” Lily’s mum Julie Maerz said.
“Right before her eighth birthday, she came out from her room one morning and she said 'I’m Lily all the time now, only use girl pronouns. I’m not gonna be Jack anymore’.”
Julie and her family had a lot of negative responses not only from strangers, but also from their family and friends.
“People come out of the wood work to let you know that you are harming your child by allowing her to be trans gender and it’s something that we’ve just come to expect and something that we really just rolls off our back at this point,” Julie said.
“Once you start to read the medical background of what gender dysphoria is and that it is a medical condition, it is not just a mental state.
"It is not something that is made up, when an eight year old tells you she is in the wrong body, she means it.”
Stacey Jefferson, 10-year-old Fiana’s mom, said she believed she just had a boy who liked girls toys until one evening when she was putting her then-son to bed.
“The stand out moment for me when I knew I really couldn’t spend another day with Fiana not transitioning was when we were getting ready for bed and she said ‘Mama, I need to tell you that I think I was supposed to be born a girl’,” Stacey said.
“I said ‘Honey, why do you think that?’ and she said ‘Well, I have a girl brain and a girl heart. All my toys are girl things and all my friends are girls. I don’t really understand the things that boys like to do’,”
“I knew right from that moment that I needed to raise her differently.”
Kimberly Jones, whose daughter Zuri, 11, is also entering puberty as a transgender girl recalls the moment she knew she should allow her to transition.
“The first time we let her go shopping in a skirt, she was delighted. She was dancing around so happy, but also really nervous about what people would think or say.”
“Now it’s like she has filled out with this whole persona of who she really is.”
While the three kids are well supported by their families, all three have encountered bullying outside of the home, especially from children at school.

Toor! Swedish Woman Covers Herself In Menstrual Blood To 'Inspire' Others
In this social media-driven age we are used to seeing weird and wonderful photos every day.
We scroll through our feeds and look at everything from Kim Kardashian's bum to someone's incredibly healthy dinner.
But one image on Instagram is stopping people in their tracks - because it's rather unusual.
Swedish naturist Maxinne Bjork has shared an image of herself, n-ked and covered in what she calls her own "life-giving fluids" - that's period blood to you and me.
Unsurprisingly, the image garnered a strong reaction from her 44,000 followers, but comments have since been disabled.
Posted over the weekend, Maxinne who currently lives in Bali, reveals she shared it to promote "acceptance and love".
She captioned it with a length post, writing: "Today after a very productive and super fun day, I came home all emotional with lots on my mind that I just pushed a side cause I didn't have space to deal with it in the moment.
"I sat down and did some deep breathing, and all of a sudden felt a strong urge to cover myself in my life-giving fluids as a woman.
"So without really thinking of why or anything else, I just did. Smudged it out all over my body and then rolled around naked on the grass in my garden all covered in my menstrual blood.
"Smelled the earth and started crying intensely. Both from happiness and sadness."
Maxinne then explained that after the crying she started laughing, before discussing how happy she is to have her mum in her life - despite the "draining" family situation they are in right now.
She adds: "But that's life. And exactly how it is supposed to be in this moment. Accept and love."
Over 2,800 people have liked the post so far.
But not everyone is supportive of the photo.
In a second post, the young woman revealed that people had been calling her "mentally sick" for sharing it.
She hit back at the haters by uploading a photo of her sporting a huge grin and saying: "So interesting how people can't accept that we all are different and have different views about life.
"I'm not telling people to think like me, but with my actions I want to express to people to listen to their hearts, and do what feels right for them even though it doesn't fit the norm. And that's why I even use social media, I want to spread how I live, so people can be inspired to dare to live how they want to live.
"I'm not trying to change any one, be you! And bad comments that I'm mentally sick doesn't really affect me. Maybe I am? But oh my, how great it feels to be mentally disturbed then. I love my life!"

2019: Seventh Day Adventist Sues INEC, FG Over Saturday Voting
The applicants in the matter, Chief Emeka Anyabelem, Elder Asonye Onwudebe, Felix Minikwu and Chinedu Omesurum, said conducting elections on Saturday amounts to the violation of their rights to worship and disenfranchisement of other members of their church.
In the suit, PHC/2836/2018, the applicants prayed the court to declare that holding elections on Saturday, the worship day for the denomination, is a violation of the Seventh Day Adventist Church members rights.
The suit read in part: “A declaration that the applicants’ known day of worship being Saturday, they are entitled to their freedom of religion and worship on Saturdays unhindered or by any means, whatsoever, under the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
“A declaration that the fixing/scheduling of the 2019 presidential and National Assembly elections on Saturday, February 16, 2019, and the governorship and state Assembly elections/Federal Capital Territory (FCT) council elections on Saturday, March 2, by the first respondent, in concert with the second and third respondents, constitute a violation of the applicants’ fundamental rights to freedom of religion.”
The applicants said their rights being violated are guaranteed under Section 38 of the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999, and Article 8 of the African Charter on Human and People’s (Enforcement and Ratification) Act, Cap A9.
The applicants further prayed the court to make an order of injunction restraining the third defendants, INEC, from conducting the 2019 election as scheduled or scheduling any other elections on Saturday.
Meanwhile, when the matter came up yesterday, in court, Ahamefule Owurre, counsel to the applicants, prayed for adjournment, to allow him to reply counter affidavit of the defence on point of law.
He said the desire of the applicants is that elections be fixed between Monday and Thursday to allow many people to participate in the electioneering process.
However, the trial judge, Justice M. Danagogo, adjourned the matter till December 18, for motions.

One of African football's most powerful figures has been banned from the sport for life for breaking bribery and corruption rules.
Ex-Ghana Football Association (GFA) president Kwesi Nyantakyi also broke conflict of interest rules, Fifa said.

Fifa fined Nyantakyi 500,000 Swiss francs (£390,000). Nyantakyi was also vice-president of the Confederation of African Football and a member of the Fifa Council.
He stepped down as GFA president in June after film of him allegedly accepting a "cash gift" was made public.
The film was captured by journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas and BBC Africa's investigations unit, Africa Eye, received exclusive access to the footage.
Nyantakyi later resigned his Caf and Fifa posts but claimed the footage had been doctored to falsely incriminate him.
The adjudicatory chamber of Fifa's ethics committee said the ban for life applied to "all football-related activities at both national and international level".

Kanye West Warned Not To Date Kim Kardashian After Her S*x Tape Revelation
Reality TV star Kim Kardashian West has spoken about the early days of her relationship with Kanye West and how he was warned not to date her, fearing that her s-x tape would damage his career.
Now husband and wife, they have been through plenty of ups and downs but it seems that they wouldn't have stood a chance of a life together if Kanye had listened to his friends and advisors.
During an interview with Van Jones on Be Woke Vote, Kim spoke candidly about the time before she got together with her rapper hubby and that, despite 'knowing him forever', didn't believe they would get together due to her chequered past.
Kim, 38, said: "We’ve been through a lot together. You know, I’ve known him for 15 years now. Became friends with him maybe in like 2006, 2007.
"Met him in like [2002 or 2003]. I’ve known him forever.
"He’s put himself up against the world for me when everyone told him, ‘You cannot date a girl with a sex tape. You cannot date a reality show girl. This is going to ruin your career.’
"Everyone told him that."
Kanye is not someone who has often taken the path that most people have told him to, so pairing up with Kim was always on the cards.
Kim said that Kanye was 'not going to be told what to do' and she said she would, "always love and appreciate him for always standing up for me."
In a glut of gushing praise for her controversial other half, Kim said that he was, "always there to hold my hand and lift me up higher and give me the confidence."
The Keeping Up With The Kardashians star has been married for four years to Kanye and they have three children - daughters North, 5, and Chicago, 9 months as well as son, Saint, 2.

We’ll End Shiites’ Protests, IGP Promises
The Inspector-General of Police, Ibrahim Idris, on Wednesday promised to put an end to the protests by members of the Islamic Movement in Nigeria that has left some people dead and properties destroyed within the Federal Capital Territory.
Idris made the promise in an interview with State House correspondents shortly after joining others to witness the inauguration of the 2019 Armed Forces Day Emblem at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
“We have made some major deployments, and all l can say is that we want to appeal to everybody to cooperate with us to end these crises and by the Grace of God, we will bring the protests to an end,” the police boss said.
When asked why security agents resorted to the use of maximum force to quell the protests, Idris explained that “the agents were responding to the threats against the security of lives and property within the FCT. It is our responsibilities to take care of security.”
The IGP gave an indication that about 400 members of the group who were arrested on Tuesday would appear in court on Wednesday.
“You know that when we make arrests, the next thing is to take them before the law courts.
“We are going to take them before the law court today (Wednesday). This could be the Magistrate’s Court or Federal High Court,” he said.
Idris also said the Federal Government was not ruling out dialogue with stakeholders as one of the ways of ending the protests.
“We are liaising with major stakeholders, major religious groups in this country.
“I think we need to do something to end these crises as soon as possible and by the Grace of God we will end the crises soon,” he added.

Neymar Faces Six Years In Prison After Court Reexamines Controversial Santos To Barcelona Move
Brazilian sensation Neymar could face up to six years in prison as courts re-examine his move from boyhood club Santos to Barcelona.
Last year former Barcelona superstar Neymar was ordered to stand trial by the Spanish court for fraud regarding his transfer to the Nou Camp.
The Brazilian made the switch to Catalonia in 2013 after four years after progressing through the ranks as a youngster.
Reports from Spain now suggest the national court has decided at the last minute to refer to the Criminal Chamber in front of three magistrates.
The fact that three judges will sit on the case means sentences can be extended past five years as they are deemed as more serious.
Barcelona newspaper Lavanguardia report they have had access to a ruling which reveals that if found guilty, the sentence could be anything from four to six years.
But the move to next chamber of the Spanish court will delay the start of the case.
The move has been the subject of an investigation since January 2014, with Barcelona and president Josep Maria Bartomeu being charged with tax fraud.

Nigeria Highest Producer Of HIV-Infected Babies -FG
The Federal Government has confirmed a report which ranks Nigeria first on the list of countries with high record of mother-to-child transmission of HIV/AIDS in the world.
Government reiterated local and international indications confirmed that Nigeria produces 30 percent of children born with HIV/AIDS globally.
Minister of Health, Prof. Isaac Adewole, told newsmen at the launch of a roadmap on implementation of the National Treatment and Prevention of Mother-to-Child Transmission (PMTCT) of HIV/AIDS in Abuja, yesterday, that the situation is worrisome and requires collective action of all stakeholders, with the support of global partners to correct the statistics.
Prof. Adewole said the roadmap has been designed to give proper guidance and direction on how best to offer treatment to HIV patients in Nigeria and also, protect unborn children from contacting the virus through a mother living with the virus.
The minister also confirmed that Nigeria has 3.1 million people living with the virus, out of which 1.1 million people have been under proper and timely treatment from government.
He said he was impressed with the commitment of the National Agency for the Control of AIDS (NACA) to the cause of proper and timely care for patients with the virus.
“There is no reason why Nigeria should be the highest producer of babies infected with HIV because, we have put in great efforts in the past. Obviously, more is required to achieve more results,” he added.

Saudi Arabia Arrests 17 Women For Taking Part In Halloween Party
Seventeen women, all Filipina expats, were arrested after hosting a Halloween party in Saudi Arabia.
The group of women were all detained by Saudi intelligence officers who raided a Riyadh compound on Friday, according to the Philippines foreign ministry.
Neighbours had reportedly complained about the noise. It is not known what charges they face however the foreign ministry reiterated that Saudi laws prohibit unattached men and women from being seen together in public.
Adnan Alonto, the Philipinne ambassador in Riyadh, told the ministry it appeared organisers of the party had been charged with holding an event without permit and disturbing the neighbourhood, the BBC reported.
Mr Alonto has since issued an advisory reminding the Filipino population in Saudi Arabia to "refrain from organising or attending events or gatherings that are unsanctioned or without permission."
He said: "In addition, everyone is reminded to avoid mixed crowds, consuming liquor, and holding public practice of traditions that are associated with religions other than Islam, such as Halloween, Valentines and Christmas."
It is thought that some of the partygoers did not know the gathering had a Halloween theme.
The public worship of any religion other than Islam is banned in Saudi Arabia - despite the fact at least two million of the country's expatriates are non-Muslims.

Minimum Wage: FG Rejects N22,500 Governors’ Proposal
The Minister of Labour and Productivity, Mr. Chris Ngige, says the Federal Government has rejected the N22,500 minimum wage proposal by the Nigeria Governors Forum (NGF).
Ngige stated this on Wednesday during a phone interview on Channels Television’s Sunrise Daily.
“The governors have not even done enough. I told them that this N22,500 is even rejected by the Federal Government,” he said.
Ngige’s comments come 24 hours after NGF unanimously agreed to pay Nigerian workers N22,500 as the new minimum wage as against the current N18,000.
Chairman of the Forum and Zamfara State Governor, Abdul’Aziz Yari, said that the decision of the governors was based on the current realities on the ground.
But Ngige criticised the governors for the figure saying N22,500 is even below the N24, 000 agreement by the Federal Government.
He, however, said that all parties on the ground would resume back on negotiations to see that the welfare of the workers is met.
Ngige added, “The national minimum wage is a national legislation being driven by the Federal Government of Nigeria in pursuance to item 34 of the Exclusive Legislative list.
“But you don’t go and make a law which people will disobey at the initial.
“If you make a law and hoax a figure that is not agreeable, which people don’t have the capacity or ability to pay because the International Labour Organisation (ILO) says in those negotiations, the principle is the ability to pay.”
The minister, however, decried that the Chairman of the Tripartite Committee, Ms. Amal Pepple is not in the country.
Ngige explained that despite her absence for two weeks for a medical check-up, the Federal Government would convene partners involved in the minimum wage to deliberate on the issue and arrive on the same page.
Although workers are demanding N30,000 as minimum wage, the minister said that any industrial action being embarked on the aggrieved workers would not resolve the issues at stake.

Pakistan Acquits Christian Woman, Asia Bibi On Death Row
A Pakistani court has overturned the death sentence of a Christian woman convicted of blasphemy, a case that has polarised the nation.
Asia Bibi was convicted in 2010 after being accused of insulting the Prophet Muhammad in a row with her neighbours.
She always maintained her innocence, but has spent most of the past eight years in solitary confinement.
The landmark ruling has already set off violent protests by hardliners who support strong blasphemy laws.
Demonstrations against the verdict are being held in Karachi, Lahore, Peshawar and Multan. Clashes with police have been reported.
The Red Zone in the capital Islamabad, where the Supreme Court is located, has been sealed off by police, and paramilitary forces have been deployed to keep protesters away from the court.
Chief Justice Saqib Nisarm, who read out the ruling, said Asia Bibi could walk free from jail in Sheikupura, near Lahore, immediately if not wanted in connection with any other case.
She was not in court to hear the ruling, but reacted to the verdict from prison with apparent disbelief.
"I can't believe what I am hearing, will I go out now? Will they let me out, really?" AFP news agency quoted her as saying by phone.
The trial stems from an argument Asia Bibi, whose full name is Asia Noreen, had with a group of women in June 2009.
They were harvesting fruit when a row broke out about a bucket of water. The women said that because she had used a cup, they could no longer touch it, as her faith had made it unclean.
Prosecutors alleged that in the row which followed, the women said Asia Bibi should convert to Islam and that she made three offensive comments about the Prophet Muhammad in response.
She was later beaten up at her home, during which her accusers say she confessed to blasphemy. She was arrested after a police investigation.

India Unveils The World's Tallest Statue
India has unveiled the world's tallest statue, which cost 29.9bn rupees (£330m; $430m) to build.
The 182m (600ft) high structure in the western state of Gujarat is a bronze-clad tribute to independence leader Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi said the "statue of unity" would serve as a major tourist attraction.
But locals say this is as a waste of public money and that the funds could have been put to better use.
Mr Modi, who unveiled the statue at a grand inaugural event, said it is "a symbol of India's integrity and resolve."
Air Force planes showered flowers on the statue, which was designed by decorated Indian sculptor Ram V Sutar.
According to local reports, thousands of policemen have been deployed across the district, which has witnessed incidents of violence and protests over the effigy. Police also detained farmers and tribal activists who were protesting on Tuesday.

Atiku Supports Special Eagles As They Get First World Cup Victory
After enduring losses in their first two games at the ongoing Amputee Football World Cup in Mexico, the Nigeria Amputee Football team, nicknamed ‘Special Eagles’ have finally recorded their first victory at the tournament.
The Special Eagles pipped their counterparts from El Salvador by a lone goal.
The victory, though slim, is quite historic and commendable knowing the odds the Nigeria Amputee Football team braved to make their debut appearance at the World Cup after missing out on the past three editions and almost also missed out in Mexico.
PDP's presidential candidate Atiku Abubakar has also sand their praises by given them words of encouragement.
''I am super excited that Nigeria’s Special Eagles, against all odds, recorded their first victory in their maiden World Cup outing in Mexico. It is my hope that with greater support, they can only get better and soar like the Eagles they are,'' he said.
But will he also remember them if luck shines on him and he becomes President in 2019?

Tyler Perry Is Killing Off His Madea Character
What drives a man to kill off his grandma? Well, Tyler Perry has a pretty basic reason for taking his prolific Madea character out of circulation.
“I just don’t want to be her age, playing her. Come on, there’s more there,” he said on Monday on SiriusXM, where he announced that his cross-dressing character’s days are numbered.
After, you know, a farewell stage tour around the country and a final movie in 2019.
“We’re gonna say goodbye to her. Don’t tell her,” Perry joked on Radio Andy.
The final flick will be Tyler Perry’s A Madea Family Funeral, which he said has been in the can for two years. It will come out March 1.
“I didn’t want to go from Boo! to Boo 2! to another Madea,” he said by way of explaining the delay. “So I put Acrimony in front of it — which, I love that movie, man — and then I wanted to do this one [Nobody’s Fool] and then that one.”
“Time for me to kill that old [expletive],” he said, laughing. “I’m tired, I’m tired.”
