Politician Arrested For Spanking 7 Year -Old Daughter

A politician was arrested for spanking his 7-year-old daughter to discipline her after she misbehaved. Democratic Assemblyman Joaquin Arambula –who is also a doctor was apprehended on suspicion of child cruelty after he spanked his daughter who ‘acted out’ Sunday night in his Fresno, California home.

 Arambula was arrested the next day after officials at the child’s school, Daily Elementary Charter School, reported a child with an injury.

He said he believes his daughter went to school angry and told her teacher what happened, according to the Fresno Bee.


‘Everyone who knows us in the community and has seen us in the community knows that I’m a loving father,’ Arambula said at a press conference at the State Capitol alongside his wife, Elizabeth.

‘I care about my family deeply. And I’m just going through a process and trying the best I can to be a husband and father who’s putting us back together again.’ Arambula was released by authorities shortly after his arrest and was not formally charged. His arrest was for a misdemeanor because the injury did not require a medical attention.

He said he has no plans to resign. Arambula has three daughters who stayed with his parents for two nights until child protective services cleared them to go back home Wednesday.

‘There’s a process to be played out, and this process played out, and they determined that the kids should go back home,’ he said. ‘I’m excited about that. But we have a job and a responsibility to continue to be good parents, and that’s what I want to work on and will strive to do.’
