But the South African stunner took to Instagram Sunday to share a rare photo of daughter Jackson as they enjoyed a family vacation.
The Atomic Blonde star adopted daughter Jackson, seven, in 2012 and daughter August, three, in 2015.
The photo showed Jackson in a red summer dress as she picks an apple from a tree, the branches covering her face.
Theron, 44, captioned the sweet photo of her oldest daughter: 'We don’t wanna leaves.'
Although her children rarely make an appearance on her social media, she's remained open about her experience as a parent.
In April, she revealed that daughter Jackson is transgender, telling Daily Mail: 'I thought she was a boy, too. Until she looked at me at 3 years old and said, "I am not a boy!"
'So there you go! I have two beautiful daughters who, just like any parent, I want to protect and I want to see thrive.
'They were born who they are and exactly where in the world both of them get to find themselves as they grow up, and who they want to be, is not for me to decide.'
