The US president seems to be in a huff after Piers said his theory – where he claimed injecting disinfectants may cure the virus – was a ‘shameful new low.’
Sharing the news, Piers took to Twitter and said: ‘UPDATE: President @realDonaldTrump has unfollowed me on Twitter, hours after I wrote this @DailyMail column.’
The column mentioned was titled: ‘President Trump’s bats**t crazy coronavirus “cure” theories are not just shockingly senseless and stupid – they’re going to kill people.’
President Trump shocked the entire world when he made bizarre comments during a media briefing.
After discussing US government research on how the virus reacts to different temperatures, climates and surfaces, he said: ‘…I see the disinfectant, where it knocks out in a minute, one minute, and is there a way we can do something like that? By injection inside, or almost a cleaning.
‘Because you see it gets in the lungs and it does a tremendous number on the lungs, so it’d be interesting to check that. ‘So, that you’re going to have to use medical doctors with, but it sounds interesting to me.’ Needless to say, do not inject yourself with bleach.
After the announcement was first made, Piers tweeted: ‘President Trump’s defence for floating bats**t crazy claims that injecting bleach can kill #coronavirus is that he was being “sarcastic”.
‘FFS @realDonaldTrump – this is not a joke. 50,000 Americans are dead & many more will die. Stop this nonsense & get serious.’ Piers is still following his pal Donald despite the quick unfollow. In his Daily Mail column, he explored Donald’s many theories and comments about the coronavirus, and how it would affect many Americans, who are already suffering. ‘I don’t find any of this funny,’ he wrote. ‘In fact, I found his remarks breathtakingly stupid, reckless and dangerous.
‘As I said at the start of this column, the President needs to SHUT THE F**K UP.’ The US has had over 52,000 coronavirus-related deaths with almost a million confirmed cases.
