“Happy Birthday to Melania, our great First Lady!,” the president wrote on Twitter.
Melania Trump, who turned 50 on Sunday, is expected to celebrate like most Americans during the coronavirus pandemic -- at home.
Her chief of staff, Stephanie Grisham, said the first lady will spend her birthday with family at the White House.
White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany also tweeted birthday greetings.
“Happy Birthday to @FLOTUS – America is so blessed to have you as our First Lady!” she said in a posting.
The Republican Party also weighed in.
“RT to wish our wonderful @FLOTUS a very happy birthday!,” the GOP said on Twitter, drawing nearly 6,000 retweets by Sunday afternoon.
