The acting Police Public Relations Officer in the state, DSP Bright Edafe, stated this on Thursday in Asaba.
He said, “The Commander of the Delta State Police Command Anti-Cult Unit, after due intelligence gathering, mobilised operatives on a sting operation with the Civilian Anti-Cult Volunteer Corps and arrested one Kenneth Ajie of Amadaga village and uncovered an illegal factory, where fake alcoholic drinks are being produced.
“The suspect, who produces the fake wines in his house, operates without any licence.
“He sells the wine for the sum of N300 per bottle and N3,600 per carton; he confessed that he bottles the wine himself by using bottles that have already been used and disposed.
“He buys these bottles at the rate of N10 each, and also buys the cork from the open market. He claims that he washes the bottles himself, corks the wines himself and sells to members of the public; he works alone and produces between one and three cartons per day.”
Items recovered from the suspect, according to Edafe, include bottles of drinks suspected to be fake wine.
Punch Metro gathered that Owoyele had sought spiritual help regarding her matrimonial challenges at the Christ Apostolic Church, Ori-Oke Gbogunmi, aka Ajanpelenbe Mountain, located on Pipeline Road, Isheri Olofin.
She was said to have been placed on 14-day fasting and prayer, but on the 10th day, things took a tragic turn as she suddenly collapsed after the morning prayers inside the church.
When Punch Metro visited the church on Wednesday, the resident pastor, Alfred Sunday, said after Owoyele lost consciousness during the spiritual exercise, she was rushed to the Igando General Hospital for treatment, adding that she died in the process.
Sunday said, “She came for prayers and nothing more. Before the day of the incident, we held a vigil and she was fine. Her fasting was supposed to be for 14 days, but the incident happened on the 10th day. God is my witness, there is nothing hidden here.
“Her daughter, Oluwatise, was also with her in the church during the spiritual exercise and they always slept together. The incident happened around 7am. I was praying on the altar when one of the church members informed me that she had passed out.
“When I moved closer to assess her, I observed that she could not stand up and when I called her name, she answered faintly. We had to rush her to the Igando General Hospital for treatment, but she died.”
The pastor explained that he went to the Idimu Police Station to report the incident, adding that during investigation, the police detained him and the General Overseer of the church.
He stated, “When I reported the incident, the police took my statement and that of the victim’s daughter. But the General Overseer and I were detained for three days and the police also visited the church to conduct an investigation.
“But the family insisted on not pressing any charge and after the police investigation, we were released. I met with the woman’s family immediately after the incident and they accepted what happened as fate.
“During the spiritual exercise, she was fasting and praying, and usually broke her fasts with honey and water. But on the 10th day, she became very weak and we had to rush her to hospital to save her, but she died.
“After the incident, we insist that anyone embarking on fasting and prayer in the church must break with pap instead of honey and water that we usually use. Anyone who refuses won’t be allowed to embark on the spiritual exercise in the church.”
Further findings by Punch Metro revealed that the family was making plans to convey the victim’s remains from the Yaba General Hospital mortuary to her hometown in Ekiti State for the burial rites.
A source, however, told Punch correspondents that Owoyele had been fasting and praying on her own over her failed marriage before she sought spiritual help in the church.
“The woman’s daughter said she was in the habit of running from pillar to post in search of spiritual help so that her husband, who had abandoned her and her daughter for seven years, could return,” the source said.
When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the circumstances surrounding Owoyele’s death were sudden and unnatural, adding that investigation was still ongoing.
Adejobi stated, “On Saturday, April 24, 2021, around 11.50am, one Alfred Sunday reported that one Joy Owoyele, 30, came to his church, CAC Ori-Oke Gbogunmi, aka Ajanpelebe Mountain, in Isheri Olofin, for prayers on April 14, 2021.
“Around 7am on the day of the incident, Owoyele fainted and was rushed to the Igando General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead.
“Detectives led by Inspector Bridget Edosa visited the scene, inspected the corpse and deposited it in the Yaba General Hospital morgue for autopsy. The case is under investigation.”

Ben Ubi, EFCC Head of Legal and Prosecution, Ibadan Zonal Office, who spoke at the sensitisation lecture, called on youths to shun all forms of cybercrime and lead the fight against corruption.
Mr Ubi urged the youths to apply their strength to the propagation of the anti-corruption crusade.
“Once youths take the leadership of the anti-corruption fight and apply their strength in its propagation, we are confident that many Nigerians will key into it, and our country will be the ultimate beneficiary.
“Cybercrime is an evil having its origin in the growing dependence on computers in modern life, especially during this COVID-19 Pandemic that is presently afflicting the society at large.
“We can no longer continue to shy away from the reality of the adverse implications of the dominance of cybercrime activities in our socio-cultural, political, and economic sphere,” he said.
According to Mr Ubi, internet-assisted crimes are committed daily through fraudulent electronic mails, pornography, identity theft, hacking, cyber harassment, spamming, and spoofing.
He called for more collaboration between educational institutions and the EFCC towards ensuring that students make meaningful impacts in their lives.
It means that excessive orders placed with catering services can incur a fine of up to 10,000 Yuan ($1,545).
Catering services are now also allowed to charge customers a disposal fee if they leave behind large amounts of food waste.
State broadcaster CGTN reported that the new law was in response to increasing amounts of food being thrown away in China.
In the country’s catering industry alone, about 10 billion kilogrammes of food were wasted every year.
Last August, China’s President Xi Jinping personally took up the cause and characterised the amount of wasted food as shocking.
He said the waste was shameful and praised frugality.
Local authorities, however, inaugurated programmes to curtail food waste.
Online videos of people showing themselves eating excessive amounts of food or expensive dishes were also criticised.
The two men, identified only as Rocky and Montu, met the victim at a health centre in the Covid-ravaged city of Patna, Bihar state.

The victim told police she was tied up by her hands and feet, and gagged with a handkerchief during the ordeal.
An investigated officer told the Indo-Asian News Service: 'The victim managed to free herself and reached home. She narrated her ordeal before her family members who approached local police.
'As the accused were known to her, we raided their respective houses on Wednesday morning and arrested them.'
The officer added that enquiries were ongoing to determine how old the girl is, as police suspect she is under 18.
Patna is among Indian cities which are dealing with a massive second wave of coronavirus.

Mrs Erewa broke her silence after the video of the actor begging princess to forgive him was released yesterday.
Mrs Erewa says the act is unacceptable and everyone must put to see Ijesha goes to court and maximum sentenced passed.
Writing on Twitter, she said;
“So despicable! The act by Yoruba actor, Baba Ijesha, who defied a girl, at 7 years and later at 14 years! Who knows how many the pedophile could have damaged if he wasn’t caught,”
I sponsored the violence against person’s law. The penalty is nothing less than 14 years in prison. His plea, begging on some video I watched should not be acceptable.
We should all do all we can to support the girl’s foster mother, Princess, to ensure this case goes to court and fully tried, and maximum sentence passed on him” she added.
Its Acting Director-General, Prof. Armstrong Idachaba, who spoke in Lagos during the official Digital Switch Over (DSO), said effective yesterday, no fewer than five million households would be able to view over 30 stations free of charge as long as they have Set Top Boxes (STBs).
Some guests that wanted to buy the STB yesterday complained about its cost. A lady who identified herself simply as Lynda, said the price of the Box was too high at N12,500. She said: “N12,500 is on the high side in an economy like ours. If the government really wants to help the masses as it is professing now, the Box should be between N1,000 and N1,500,” she said.
Prof Idachaba said the commission has licensed 140 terrestrial television stations and indigenous STB manufacturers.
In his address, the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, said already, there are over one million STBs for five million TV households in the state. He said the launch marked the beginning of the second phase of the DSO rollout, which came a day before the fifth anniversary of the launch of the pilot programme of the DSO in Jos, Plateau State, on April 30, 2016.
Listen, that guy has made me happy and I have no apologies for it. He has made me happy. All the while I was with him, I never cried, like cry, but I know that I have been in relationships with older men, men who are older by 20 years.
I have dated a guy who is older than me by 20 years because then I used to believe you need a father figure in a relationship, you need someone who can help you, build you, people who can control you. I have dated a guy who is 20 years older than me and he never impacted anything in my life. He never did anything for me. Mentally he never. He abused me, he lied to me.
I have dated a guy who is ten years older than me. It didn't work. I dated a guy who is eight years older than me. I have never dated a guy who I am older than. This is actually the first I tried it.''
''I used to see a guy who is thirty years old as a child. I used to see guys who are thirty years old as babies because I am used to dating my grandpas, grandfathers, thinking that's the best decision for me. But, all these grandfathers, what they do is demoralise me, made me understand that I am not special, made me understand that there is nothing in me, that the strength that I feel that I have, I don't have it.''
She broke into tears and said; ''I decided to try with a younger person''.

Tinubu, in series of tweets, lamented that the attacks had caused many to disparage the military and security forces, saying Nigerians must not disparage them.
“Like all decent Nigerians, I am angered and troubled by the terror and cruelty being visited upon the people of Borno, Yobe, Benue, Niger, Imo and other parts of the nation.
“These attacks have caused many to disparage our military and security forces. This we must not do. Valiant men and women serve in our security forces, risking their lives to protect us,” he said.
According to Tinubu, “We stand with them. Government also must continue to encourage the security forces to do their utmost to subdue this threat. The lives of innocent Nigerians and the future progress of the nation may lie in the balance.”
He said as a people, Nigerians must never surrender to the fearful temptation to blame one another.
The former governor of Lagos added that regardless of region or religion, Nigerians must unite against a common foe, as discord would only invite defeat.
Tinubu stated that the enemy’s attacks seemed to focus on schools, religious institutions and security forces.
“They seek to extinguish the light of knowledge and hope by shrouding us in the darkness of fear and brutal ordeal.
“We must not tremble. They will be vanquished. In the end, tolerance, justice and compassion shall win the day,” he said.
They have since christened her Arielle Rachelle-Marise Frimpong.

The state Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, while parading the suspects at the command headquarters in Ikeja, said after a report was made, detectives tracked down and arrested Olaitan and Segun three months after perpetrating the crime.
Olaitan said after he opened a Facebook account in the name of the monarch, he started posting different pictures of the traditional ruler to attract potential suitors.
He stated, “Everything happened on Facebook. I impersonated Oba Saheed Elegushi on Facebook and used his pictures. She (the victim) connected with me online and said she wanted to marry a king and we started from there. I told her that if she wanted to marry a king, she needs to do some cultural activities and she agreed.
“She told me to send my account number, but because I didn’t have an account number, I contacted Segun, who provided the account used for collecting the money.
“I was paid N2.5m and it was when I was brought to the command that I got to know that what she paid was N51m. How I was arrested was that the police tracked my cousin’s number. I was making arrangements for my birthday when the police arrested me.”
Segun, 48, said the painter introduced him to the victim, adding, “I took him to those who provided the account used in collecting the money from the woman. I collected N3.5m. I was shocked when I heard that the money was N51m.”

Dozens were also injured in the stampede that occurred at the event, which Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called “a terrible disaster.”
The Times of Israel reported on Friday that at least 20 out of the injured were in critical condition.
The rescue service said six helicopters and dozens of ambulances were evacuating the wounded to the Ziv hospital in Safed and the Galilee Medical Center in Nahariya.
The specific cause of the disaster was not immediately clear, according to the newspaper.
Initial reports said a stand had collapsed at one of the concerts where 100,000 people were taking part in the events.
However, the Magen David Adom rescue service said the tragedy was caused by a crush and overcrowding.
The crowd of ultra-Orthodox Jews had gathered at the tomb of the 2nd-century sage Rabbi Shimon Bar Yochai for annual commemorations that include all-night prayer and dance.
It is thought to be one of the largest gatherings of people certainly in Israel and perhaps farther afield since the outbreak of the coronavirus pandemic more than a year ago.

“I will rearrest Baba Ijesha if he is released. I don’t know the authorities involved in this case but if he is released that means there is a problem in Nigeria.
“I heard some people in my industry are trying to release him but I wouldn’t let that happen as a mother
“I stand as a woman and not a celebrity, if they release him, we will rearrest him.

Mbaka stated that it was sad how Buhari could maintain grave silence in the midst of the killings and deaths in the country, insisting that he may have lost touch with realities.
Speaking during worship on Wednesday evening in Enugu, he told his congregation that no civilized leader would remain in power with the spate of violence and ugly deaths that have bedeviled the nation.
“How can people be dying, the chief security officer of the country will be sitting down without making any comment,” Mbaka said.
“Gunmen attacking people everywhere. Buhari should have resigned honorably following his failure as a leader. Let me tell you if it is in a civilized country, by now, President Buhari will resign with what is happening. So it is amazing that he has chosen to sit tight while people are dying anyhow.”
Mbaka called on the National Assembly to swing into action and remove the president, should he fail to resign, saying that Nigerians are faced with great difficulty created by poverty and insecurity.
“Nigerians are crying because there’s no security in the country. The National Assembly should impeach the president if he doesn’t want to resign,” Mbaka said.
Mbaka warned the lawmakers that should they fail to impeach the president and begin to attack him; “…something worse than what they can never imagine will happen to the members.”
Mbaka emphasized that the nation cannot continue the way it is, warning that “enough has to be enough. There is time for everything”
He also prayed to God to change the heart of the leaders, wondering how someone can become a billionaire with the commonwealth of the people.
Mbaka also frowned at the activities of herdsmen that destroy the farmland of people without any repercussion and called on them to retreat.
He asked church leaders to come together and pray for God’s intervention on the land, insisting that they would not be spared should the present violence and killings continue in the land.
“I plead that the church leaders will understand me as a messenger of God and not begin to attack me because the danger is going to affect the church,” Mbaka said.
“When gunmen begin to strike inside the church, they will begin to kill one man of God or the other or even members of the church, who will go to the church again? The priests will lose their job, the Bishops will lose their jobs. So you better keep quiet or support what I’m saying.”

Reacting to the news of the soon release, Tonto took to Instagram and wrote what you are about to read below... WAR, WAR, WAR she says.
The secret police stated that it received intelligence that the explosives were being moved in articulated trucks from Lagos to a hideout in Orlu, Imo State.
The DSS stated this in a letter to the Brigade Commander, 34 Artillery Brigade, Obinze, Owerri, Imo State.
The DSS letter with reference number, S.238/5/1538 dated April 26, 2021, was signed by I. Abdullah on behalf of the Imo State DSS Director.
It was titled, ‘Movement of explosive devices into the state by IPOB/ESN’.’
The letter read, “Intelligence revealed that the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra/Eastern Security Network has acquired bombs and Improvised Explosive Devices with which to further their subversive activities.
“It was reliably gathered that the newly acquired items are currently being conveyed from Lagos to an unconfirmed location in Orlu Local Government Area.
“The items are being concealed in articulated/heavy duty vehicles to beat security checks along the road. It was further revealed that the group intends to deploy the explosives in their planned attacks on security/government installations across the state.”
The DSS, therefore, advised the Brigade commander to ensure that deployed security personnel carried out thorough search on trucks coming to the state.
